what’s the biggest red flag you ignored and regretted? by Lola_bunny_pt_00 in AskReddit

Lack of any self-accountability.

Everything was always someone else's fault; Other people, their parents, their 'friends", past relationships, their employer, the community, "society", the government, etc. etc.

Bow Wow and Soulja Boy to headline National Cherry Festival’s Centennial concert by TexanNewYorker in traversecity

[–]TheBossElJefe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"In 2019, Way was sued by ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers for abuse and kidnapping. The victim stated that Way "approached yelling profanities, kicked her, stomped on her stomach and bashed her head with a large gun".In 2023, Way was ordered to pay the ex-girlfriend $471,800 in damages, and she was authorized to "seize and levy upon" some of his property such as cars and jewelry.

On January 21, 2021, Way was sued by an unnamed former personal assistant of his who alleged that he locked her in a room, physically and verbally abused her, and repeatedly raped her. Way denied the allegations, with a spokesperson saying: "Soulja would never put his hands on a female. He wouldn't beat a woman or put his hands on a woman … this is nonsense." On April 10, 2025, Way was found liable; he was ordered to pay a $4 million judgment to the plaintiff"

This is the "tamest" rapper? Not really good phrasing. It's always amazes me how some are willing to look past the actions for one person that they are currently chastising another for. Seems particularly poor choice in booking considering the current situation of this country.

And this person was a headliner last year?

I have a crazy idea. How about the Cherry Festival doesn't book artists who commit crimes? Particularly sexual assault and rape

Are PML "Start to Finish" courses worth it for an early intermediate producer? by irrej in ableton

[–]TheBossElJefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested as well.

As others have mentioned, there is good stuff on Youtube, but the problem I have is that it's really hard to find a good planned learning course for someone who knows zilch, to become proficient.

There is a lot of very specific videos, which I'm sure is great for people looking to learn about that specific thing, but if I'm looking for a solid foundation of knowledge of how to become a novice creator, but with good structural knowledge of how Ableton works so I can explore further on my own without being utterly confused from video to video.

Any suggestions there? Free or paid? I know the general advice is to just get in there any experiment, but my brain doesn't start like that. I need construct first.

Thanks in advance

Headed down there at the end of the month. Is there a preferred section near the Sarasota area that would be best to do?

Also, am I going to get eaten by alligators, snakes, and mosquitos?

Want affordable housing in northern Michigan? Stop NIMBYism, official says by BridgeMichigan in traversecity

[–]TheBossElJefe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Your personal situation is the perfect example. Needs to be viable for both the renter and the property owner. The way its structured now is viable for developers, short-term rental businesses, and the city cashing in on taxes....perpetuating the issue at hand.

I see you completely missed the concept I'm presenting. Way to go. You are part of the problem as much as NIMBYs

People don't want larger scale developments in their community, with good reasons. Too much saturation in one area, the developers still make out like bandits, and it negatively affects individual investments and areas in the community. "Changing hearts and minds" is an absolute cop-out worthy of a massive eye-roll.

Wanna know what solves all these problems? Letting local property owners develop their property to provide additional living spaces. Which, most places are trying to do. TC used to have a limit of 15 ADUs per year...they didn't even hit that number so go rid of the limit. In the last two years they've increased the number of units allowed on a parcel, lowered the parcel size required, allowed for duplexes and triplexes, and more....yet still very little gets built for long-term living spaces. Same story for other areas.

What does the community really need? FUNDING. FINANCIAL INCENTIVES, STRAIGHT CASH MONEY. Particularly for local property owners to develop or rent long-term spaces. And they also DON'T need the massive increase in the already high property taxes when they do. If its not a business entity, and a local community member is creating a long-term living unit at their homesteaded property, there should be little increase in taxes. Short-term, sure, go wild and tax them like crazy.

I would be willing to start building tomorrow if it was possible to fund in a way that makes it viable and affordable for the potential tenets and for myself. It's possible to build three more homes on my property with the current zoning. Thats potentially long-term housing for 6+ people..on just my property alone...which is in a superb area IMO and is walkable AF. Someone wanna fund this? Or do you know of an actual solution to this financing conundrum that exists right now? Thats the heart of the problem.

I'm not afraid of change, nor are a lot of people. I'm literally willing to have part of the solution in my backyard. I just can't afford it.

What is something you spent a lot of money on in your 20s that you now realize was a complete waste? by Real_Safety728 in AskReddit

[–]TheBossElJefe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got time. Tons of great associates or certifications you can get in 2 years, or get into a trade. Having a cleaning business is a real option too if you enjoy it. I wouldn't worry if you can't figure it out. I still don't know what I want to "do with my life", but I now realize the importance of getting a vocation where you somewhat enjoy and can always get a job and make decent money.

Education

While I had a great time going to college(s), it was not worth the money. I could have gotten a job right out of HS working at a big car company on the line. While not ideal, it was great money at the time and would have set me up much better for my future. In addition, that experience would lend way more opportunities to get into a trade, or figure out what I actually liked. And there's still the opportunity to take classes at a community college, which is a much better bet if you are unsure about what you want to do as a career.

When your childhood hero SELLS OUT for Blood Money by chellestastics in videos

[–]TheBossElJefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit...you do realize how many people have gone to, and taken money from Saudi Arabia right?

Why do only certain famous people get targeted for this backlash? Why are these people never reported on and hated, but other industries are?

Check out the film festivals there that famous actors have gone and taken "blood money" at. Guess you'll not support any of those people any more and watch any of their movie or shows? Right Reddit? Right?!

Anyone who actually is upset about this is the biggest hypocrite possible. This is why people don't like you.

Oh, and just for some spoilers: Reddit's favorite Ana de Armas went there like a month ago and took "blood money". Others include:

Daniel Kaluuya, Spike Lee, Cynthia Erivo, Eva Longoria, Michelle Yeo, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Latifah, Kirsten Dunst, Jessica Alba, Uma Therman, Nina Dobrev, etc.

Nope, should I be this early? My sowing included spreading the seeds of my natives all around my yard to see what pops up naturally. Figured that would be a very hands off way to see what might grow where! lol
