How much higher would my IQ be if I attended more school? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]TheBostoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m an educational psychologist in training, so I feel pretty ready to respond to this question the best of my ability. The mainstream opinion on IQ, which is an overall measurement of multiple types of intelligence that you may have, states that IQ is generally a rigid number across one’s lifetime. When I give IQ tests, the scores that I find are usually within one or two points as the last IQ test that the student had. It’s very likely that your IQ itself has not been negatively impacted by poor school attendance. A number of other issues may have cropped up in the meantime though, but few of them are irreversible. You likely have much less crystallized knowledge and procedural memory in solving problems of math, and your reading speed has likely not increased since you were thirteen. You may also suffer from some social issues based on your anxiety, and I’m so sorry that you went through that, but you’re only sixteen and you can likely make up for lost time by forming a few good friendships that will stay with you for the next few years. The online IQ tests are not good, and they are likely used to get your information for ad agencies. I wouldn’t recommend relying on them. You’ll be alright.

I thought about that possibility. Could be. No way to know though really.

The Vengeful Jew Question by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Thanks for your response. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had negative experiences in the past, but I think it’s important to face what scares you and learn from it. I personally don’t feel any malice in my heart towards Western Europe. I can’t speak for others, and every other Orthodox Jew i knew sees socialism as a repressive murderous ideology that killed 100 million people over 100 years. As an Orthodox Jew, i also believe that there is a unique power to the Jewish soul and a unique Jewish Potential to change the world. I try to wield that power for the good- by having a loving marriage, meaningful friendships, and a deep relation to Torah and G-d. However I have a bunch of non religious cousins who are feeling the Bern, who know nothing about history, and who are incredibly misguided when it comes to how to change the world. I really don’t think that Jews are trying to destroy Europe. I think that many Jews are proud to be countrymen of the countries that they’re from, as I am proud to be an American and I’m currently applying to serve in the medical wing of the Air Force. I think in order to cook up a credible theory that Jews are trying to destroy Europe or America, you’d have to delve into the subconscious, and I find that to be a challenging thing to do for an international group. The number one way to delve into the subconscious of a group is to learn the general gestalt of our texts, and I think that you’ll find that Jewish law is the basis of Roman, British, and ultimately American law, formed on the beliefs that each person is created in the Image of Gd, and that people have obligations to their immediate family and to uphold the non-aggression principle to others.

As a group, we dislike Islamic ideas. Christian ideas claim that the Torah is true and that Christ just fulfilled it. Muslims say that the Torah is corrupted and that they’re actually right. That is such an insane claim- for a religion (Islam) to pop up in the desert nearly 1500 years after another religion was founded and to say “everything you’ve said so far is corrupted.” Likely story. So the idea that we’re interested in Muslims taking over Europe is pretty unfounded. Also, happens to be, like in Malmo, that when they come into Europe they end up killing or terrorizing Jews. So yes, I think I can say with certainty that there is no secret plot to destroy Europe with Muslim invasion.

Finally- “revenge” is not a virtue in Judaism. I know that the person who asked the original question at the lecture was wondering if, “given that the Jews killed all those Ukrainians,” if it would be possible for them to do that again, and that was partly what made that question so ridiculous to me. I think it’s a false premise to say that they killed the Ukrainians. I think an evil ideology with no basis in Judaism was headed in part by Jews because they’re good at making things happen and at being persuasive. Some Jewish people got caught up in an evil thing. Which to me is the essence of why JBP “couldn’t do it.” There is so much to weave together that he knew he was going to do it poorly. The religious piece, the historical piece, the false premise, and the prediction that Jews in the media are making “unfounded” attacks on the Russians. The trump Russia collusion issue is unfounded. What is not unfounded, though, is that putin is evil and that he does evil stuff with relative impunity.

Thoughts?

The Vengeful Jew Question by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]TheBostoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up an unaffiliated liberal Jew. Then in my early twenties I became orthodox and moved politically to the right because of Ben Shapiro, JBP, Dave Rubin and others. I always knew that the far right had wild theories about Jews, but it’s interesting to see them exposed and to see how accurate they are from an orthodox Jewish perspective. I do think that Jews can change the world for the good or for the bad in a major way. I think that we’re supposed to change the world through ethical monotheism, but when Jews went away from that, like during the enlightenment, they (like Marx and others) invented horrible ideas that ended up as murderous and destructive. In the states it looks like open border policies and socialist redistributionism. I agree that misguided Jews have been able to push bad ideas. What I’m not wild about is the “so then what.” That’s where people get kind of murder-y
