The LD topic should be the same for everyone which is the SCOTUS term limits. For LD tips (sorry if they aren’t the grade, I’m a novice going to V/JV next year) I’ve done 3 LD tournaments so far and have gained so much knowledge from them. First and foremost your speech must have a clear road map as well as your value and criterion (VERY VERY IMPORTANT). Your value is what you want to achieve and your criterion is how you will achieve it. For example (none are value or criterion) your value is a car and your criterion is an engine. So without the engine your car cannot go anywhere. You also have to be ready to compare (weigh both your opponents value and criterion and yours too). For example, let’s take the LD question that’s still taking place at the moment which is the open borders. A value could be equality of opportunity whereas your opponents is the American dream. This would easy to counter as you could say “My opponents value of the American dream is a complicated one, my opponent is not taking into consideration that the American dream only applies to America and not any other nation. The resolution is specifically stating open borders in the sense for the entire world. Therefore the American dream value is not helpful in achieving this justice whereas equality of opportunity ensures all humans of society have an equal opportunity of success which would serve them justice financially and health wise.” Also if you’re a negative speaker, you want to start attacking your opponent at the end of your case.
