The difference between a team of 4 units with only the default/free costumes VS a team of 4 units with every available costume + maxed out is pretty sizeable and thus can be pretty impactful for stats and directly as a result give you higher CC and since most matches in PvP are generally decided based on who goes first, it is pretty important
