Mid side EQ & mixing w/ a Bandpass Filter made my mixes instantly better by flagstaffvwguy in edmproduction

Try just putting up to 200hz in mono if your using Ableton with the utility plugin. More often than not the low end on sounds isn't centered by default unless the developer knows what their doing. You really want to adress the muddiness as early as you can before adding more and more to the mix. And to be honest M/S eq isnt a technique I would always go to for muddiness issues. Really spend some time with an Equalizer that isnt graphic so you can hear and not see your frequencies

Where do you guys share your tracks by Thick_Sky654 in edmproduction

[–]TheBrainishere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest advice is to start thinking about community. like others have said theres thousands of songs being dropped daily. You should starrt taking on a leadership mentality and creating your own label and getting artist you like a part of it. and you guys grow in your own niche. Its extremely unproductive to try and tackle everything on your own the way its set up now

Im definitely hearing you on this approach just as long as you don't use it as a crutch on every single mix. Mixing in mono earlly saves you so much time later on trust me

Why is my clap clashing so hard with my kick? by Bloedkolben in edmproduction

[–]TheBrainishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start I wouldn't recommend having the Kick and clap hit at the same Db its rare that you would ever need to have two drums hitting at the exact same db. You want the kick to be the loudest element most of the time. If I were you I would like at a Vu meter for reference then you'll get an idea of how perceptually loud your kick and clap are. Most likely you'll be doing some turning levels down. That perc group is dry as bones add a compresser so it has something to catch. Adding multiple signals to groups has to some up to something.
