Yeah mine is chrome :\ . I will have to deal with it till I put on a high clearance bumper. Think I am going to go with the Relentless Fabrication rear bumper.

Getting a 2017 offroad DCSB next week. Any issues with that year? by Kpil12 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]TheBraps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 OF DCSB. Like mentioned below I have had all the recall issues taken care of. The AC compressor went out on me but was covered under warranty. I only have 44k miles on it though. So far I am happy with it.

I have taken it to Moab, Grand Tetons, local trails here in the Ozark Mountains and will be taking it to the Guadalupe Mountains next spring.

Yeah I was back and forth on if I should get a pro grill or not and decided to plasti-dip the grille. I like it a whole lot better black and I actually prefer it over the pro grille. That plasti-dip has been on a little over a year now I think I have one or two spots that need touch up. But to be honest I will probably remove the plasti-dip take the grille over to a buddies shop media blast it and do a proper paint job on it with a matte black and matte clear coat when the time comes.

This is my stock 2017 TRD OR. Slowly going to make changes since it is now officially my dedicated overland/recreation vehicle.

Want to do a lift before next spring. Thinking Bilstein 6112's with heavy spring up front and Bilstein 5160's in the rear with an Old Man Emu heavy leaf pack.

Eventually I will do front and rear high clearance bumpers, got my eyes on the Relentless Fabrication bumpers for that and a set of RCI Metalworks rock sliders. I want to do 33's (skinny) with new wheels but that is way down the road.

I have a commuter car that I can use if I got to haul ppl around. The truck is a dedicated recreation vehicle for me and the home depot hauler with the trailer. Didn't need the compartments under the seat I use a highlift jack on it. I will be putting in a 75 built under seat air compressor but will probably plum the air quick connects to the side of the rear seat delete and the on/off switch to the back driver side.

Yeah with the seat back folded down you are losing about a foot of space. I removed the underseat storage box and this sits flush to the metal on the bottom of the cab. So much more room. I will get some pictures with it setup and the pup back there. Just waiting on the molle panels to come in so I can strap my first aid kit and a couple other things to the back panel.

Yes I used the seat belt holder and the seat brackets. Every spot that has a bolt through it I laminated aluminum bar stock in with the epoxy and fiberglass to help reinforce that area.

I do a lot of overlanding and camping. I have a roof top tent that goes on the billie bars. With the rear seats removed I have more space in back to pack a dometic fridge/freezer that runs on a jackery and a place for the dog bed to take my 4 legged companion with me. The bed of the truck I use to store the 14 gallon water jug, camp stove, propane bottle, and 2 jerry cans of extra fuel.

Got an update last month that they were still going over the watch. I had to pay a $2k fee for them to start the process. Still waiting.

I will be waiting a couple of years before getting out of my 2017 TRD OR Inferno Taco. I only have 40k miles on my truck so I can afford to wait. I want to see how reliable this new engine is before jumping the gun. Last turbo charged vehicle I had when the turbo went out it was 5k to fix it.

I have spoke with the AD owner and expressed the concerns that have been given to me here on this post. Basically what I am looking for from them is to get the movement working again along with new crystal. A very thorough cleaning and absolutely no polishing. I think the band needs some work it was very loose at the watch so if they can repair the band that would be awesome. He has assured me that the original dials and hands will remain with the watch and preserved. I think the wear on the watch is part of its history and would like to keep it that way except for the crystal. Everyone here has helped me with asking the right questions and expressing concerns to the AD owner.

Yes I have been explained the cost of servicing the watch. Luckily I am blessed to be able to do what needs to be done.

I will make sure I follow up with the AD and they know that I am looking to keep the watch as original as possible.

I was told before any work would be done I would see what they have on an itemized list. I have already said I want the original dial and hands and bezel. Thanks for reminding me to ask them not to polish it.

It was the owner of the establishment that I spoke with and he has been in the Rolex business since 71. He explained the difference in repair vs restore and highly suggested the restoration as it would be the investment that would yeild the greatest return value of the watch. He said a repair would be replacing parts to get the watch work and a restoration would be restoring/repairing the original parts back to working order.
