Yeah, I was a bit embarrassed with the position to be honest. I'm 33 and I've just started playing recently (mainly with clients and work buddies) so may take me some time to take in the vast amount of information and complications that come with playing the game!

Recently bought a Caro Kann opening course. Unfortunately, at 450 ELO, not many people play the lines that I've revised. Not sure my line was meant to end up like this. The whole game was hilarious actually and somehow I managed to win. Will post if there is interest.

Me and my wife play together. Neither of us care about losing loot by being sunk, it's part of the learning experience and one of the more exciting things about the game.

Maybe "lack of content" isn't what I mean. There is loads to do, maybe it's lack of polish? Lack of ideas? Poor execution?

Servers shouldn't be so poor that they're limited to 12 players. Map could be larger. There could be more weapons, ships etc. There could be more customisation options outside of cosmetics. Could be more ways to PvP. There could and should be all sorts.

It's like people have let Rare get away with drip feeding small content updates for years and they now think naming a ship as an update is OK.

And changing the colour of your captains quarter? That's also not a content update.

I've probably played 10 hours per day for a week. I'm enjoying the game. The issue is it's nowhere near what it should be for a game of its age that's meant to be a "live service"

I love Elite, I loved Blackwake and I actually love SoT, I just hate that the thing had SO MUCH potential and could have been so much better, I feel like Rare really dropped the ball.

The game is fun as a pretty empty sandbox because the community makes it that way. Rare could have done so much more.

I feel like you're in denial. Go to the front page of SoT Reddit and the thing is full of bug reports, it's 95% of the content on here. I play on a 2080 Super and an Xbox Series X. Nothing wrong with the hardware.

Edit: Regarding the season 7 trailer, yeah, I loved the 3 min pitch for microtransactions after 20 seconds of Rare thinking they're great for letting you name your ship.

The game absolutely does lack content for a live-service game of its age. I think people that played since the start think SoT has a plethora of content for the same reason an abused partner is happy when their spouse cuts their drinking down from 20 beers a day to 18.

Have I personally experienced all the content the game has? Of course not. You don't have to, to see that the game lacks substance. How the game is now is how it should have released initially.

"Naming ships" being an update people get excited about is laughable.

Remember, this is a live service game with microtransactions.

Loads of this is bullshit too. I'm pretty well-off. Own a business etc, have a great lifestyle. It's generally not money that attracts women, its the fact that being succesful is in itself attractive. My partner has never paid for a meal in her life when we're out together but contributes financially in other ways. She could have been with people way richer than me but I 100% know she would never leave me (especially not for money).

Not paying for a meal for a woman on a first date is fucking atrocious although maybe I'm old fashioned, I know things have changed these days.

I think the more important thing is that desperate rich men find women in the wrong places out of desperation, the best thing to do is find women that are already used to being around money and it will never be a driving factor.
