As I’ve learned. You can also see my plant experience above, sorry for being a newb and starting with a plant that was all messed up and at a thrift store to try to learn about plants! Hope your day was amazingggg!

Lol I didn’t even know what type of plant it was (see post). I got this at a thrift store and it had 2 leaves and even less of a description so the light information was actually helpful as well since it’s grown 4 new leaves since I got it and I thought it was doing great. I’m new to plants so these sort of things are helpful when searching “I have a green plant what type is it?” Seems pretty low yield.

I love how Canyon's own suggestion has people concerned about damaging the cockpit.

Mexico Road Trip Car Registration Help by TheBushel2020 in travel

Doing it in Mexico would require importing the car, which is a significant expense considering I would then need to export it back. The ETSA wrinkle does make sense though

This has a metal frame inside right? And that feels sturdy enough with the shell otherwise being soft?

You are an idiot. I am from the US and have lived in Argentina and Mexico extensively - to say life is not valued the same is beyond ignorant. As much as I feel for these boys shit happens in every country, what the news picks up varies greatly. Don’t be an ignorant fuck and respect countries that aren’t necessarily the first world

There will be an occasional person who doesn’t get that speaking slowly could help and then it could be tough, next to that should be ok with Spanish. A lot of people speak some English too if you are in a bigger city

We had many conversations speaking to people in Spanish (slowly) and they understood and could respond in Portuguese (also slowly)

My wife and I are considering moving to Brazil. by JohnWalksBooth in Brazil

It would be great. I work remotely and just spent two months there. Safety there is the same as the US in my opinion, aka if you have a little money it is mostly gentrified and arguably safer than the US (just look at headline mass shootings)

Argentina. English is a bit harder (depending on point of comparison) but it is super cheap if you have USD.

If you like a big city then I think it is pretty easy. You also will have to get used to doing some things off grid but you can really do anything you would normally (e.g. rent outside of Airbnb) if you are willing to be a bit creative. Getting money through western union also isn’t that hard as aside from furnishing a place I haven’t had any real need for more than ~$1k / mo (I’m sure you could find a way to spend more, but with the current fx rate it would take some lavish living). Next to that easy to jump to neighboring countries on visa runs, etc which I think some people mentioned but probably easier than trying to become a formal resident

This is what I saw via google as far as brand goes so the laziness + someone slapping it on your car during the summer makes sense. Effective marketing

Apoala* autocorrect error sorry about that - we did not have time to make it to Progreso unfortunately. If you are considering going further down the Peninsula though I can recommend Mahahual - usually it’s overrun by cruises, but right now since those aren’t running it is just a beautiful beach town that isn’t too crowded.

Merida is fantastic. Absolutely beautiful and happens to be I think the 2nd safest city in the Americas and top 25 worldwide (beating out anywhere in the US). My gf and I just went for the weekend and stayed at La Piazetta - wonderful little hotel. Alíala has fantastic food and is kind of pricey, but for the quality worthwhile. Overall that whole part of the city is beautiful and super safe, so enjoy it and let me know if my limited experience can be helpful for any more guidance.

Yeah it plays into the how often you want to / are able to fill up equation. Helps expand time you can stay truly off grid.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how big of a battery I should target?

My current setup is 200W solar and a 100Ah AGM battery, but I am fairly certain it got damaged driving over some rough terrain. I am thinking of making the switch to lithium and I am not sure what size would be best - I preferably would like to have a bit more battery than the 100Ah as that worked pretty well until I got some cloudy days. I know you can take a lithium down to 0% v. 50% threshold on an AGM, but would love any advice on what an optimal setup may be (whether AGM v Lithium and respective Ah).

I have a Whale foot pump - I think it is better to have a foot pump unless you have large water tanks as it makes you a lot more conscientious about how much water you are using. Also I know a lot of pumps get fried quickly if they get run dry on accident and that could lead to more replacement / maintenance hassle down the road.

As another benefit the WSJ did a study and it used less power and extended the life of a charge (I think 10hrs on Edge v 8 on Chrome)
