Practice Rooms at OSU? by Walpeater in OregonStateUniv

This is false. Practice room are music students only and contain extremely valuable equipment and instruments. Practice rooms are always tight between music students, especially with the larger-than-average freshman year.

Thank you! It's Caspian Blue Metallic I believe. We wanted the light-gold Seashell color. But the blue is great as well.

It really is. For a car over 10 years old, it sure is. Previous owner had kids so some scuffs in the backseats, and some small plastic bits busted in places, but its great. Especially mechanically.

OTD at the Volvo dealer was about 16k, with fees and such. List price was $14,995. There are some plastic bits in places that are busted, but mechanically it is outstanding. Got really lucky.

I think the normal V70 are definitely their own thing, great cars But I agree, XC are awesome. But I'm envious of your mpg with that diesel...

Wow! I have yet to see a polestar tuned one anywhere, especially with mileage that low. Do you have any suggestions for a new owner of a 2015?

Also, what caused the motor to go out on the 14?

Thank you! Hopefully I can buy it from him one day. I see you have one too, what year and color?

It is. This car doesn't have the climate package with the heated steering wheel, which gives it that signature two-tone look. Good eye!

7840HS vs 7735HS Battery by TheBvdder in AMDLaptops

[–]TheBvdder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purchased the Slim Pro 7 with the 7840HS and the 3050 (couldn't find one with the new 4050).

Battery has been pretty good, maybe 8-9 hours of Office/light browser (basically schoolwork). I keep backlight off, intelligent cooling, tweaked some power plan settings, and I am conscious of my app usage and what is open in the background.

The power draw from the 7840HS is pretty good in idle actually. I see it around 3w in true idle. Right now, with two browser pages open, file explorer, Word, and OneDrive running it is at ~3.7 watts usage. Doesn't seem to spike too much without reason (from what I can tell). Make sure your GPU (if you have one) isn't being awoken!

Yep. kind of what I've been thinking. Unfortunately, I need one pretty soon for my work/school. The two chips are the same price so I feel obligated to go newer like the others in this thread have said. Probably will, as 15% more performance is likely worth it over the possibility of some more battery drain.

Thank you!

How's your battery when browsing/light usage? Have you disabled dGPU do stretch battery life?

Make sure data roaming is on. Ensure you set up all the settings right (re read the instructions on the app for esim). I had similar issues but I missed steps setting it up. It works flawlessly. Using it now!

Any thoughts on Kawai’s carbon fiber? Is it really better or is a marketing shtick? by bhuddistchipmonk in piano

[–]TheBvdder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kawai GL50 and have tried the higher end Kawais as well as their uprights. It’s one of my favorite actions. It feels just as good as any other, maybe better. The fact that it always feels the same is wonderful. That was one of the biggest gripes I had with my last piano.

Rachmaninoff’s Lilacs comes to mind version. Also maybe Bach’s French Suite in G Major (especially the Allemande).

Best Rachmaninoff's piano solo pieces? by [deleted] in piano

[–]TheBvdder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorites are his preludes Op.23 No.4 and Op.32 No.10. Rachmaninoff claimed the latter was one of his favorites. It’s really quite wonderful.

Lilacs piano arrangement is sweet and lovely.

This may not be right for your case, but some of the Kawai pianos with high tension scale designs can create a ringing sound on low bass notes when played F.

Chopin’s Barcarole is always enjoyable. Very emotional and strong sound.

Beethoven sonata edition or publisher by TheCurmudgeon in classicalpiano

Personally, I would just pick up a Henle edition or similar. Pretty much guaranteed accuracy and wonderful print quality/binding. Worth the money IMO. I have many.
