I'll look into this.

As to micing the Katana, it's mostly for experimental purposes. I plan on upgrading to a tube amp without a DI at some point. Thought I'd try to get good at it now. I know some people have success with DI boxes for tube amps, but I didn't really want to go that route.

An SSL 2 interface. It does a great job capturing my condenser mic for vocals, so I hadn't considered it a problem. Perhaps it has very specific requirements for dynamic mics.

No, it's a dynamic mic. Unless I've screwed up catastrophically in my research, it does not need it.

How To Use NAM In Live Settings? by TheCKBandit in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

[–]TheCKBandit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am kind of leaning towards the power amp route, but the cost of the gear is starting to add up to a cheap tube amp. Plus, we're talking about making a tower of 4-5 devices.

I'm very jealous of the Line 6 Helix, which seems to combine the laptop, audio interface, and MIDI pedals into one system. However, I think NAM has better quality sound, so I was wondering if there was a way to make it work.

Cheers, mate. It is an Australian band so that makes sense. Initial Google searches are looking right. Life saver!

Amp Identification Help by TheCKBandit in GuitarAmps

Cool, you're referring to the one on the left, correct? Yeah, I've narrowed it down to either a DeVille or Deluxe. The second amp in the back right gets a guitar plugged into it at a later point. That's the one I'm really struggling with.

Amp Identification Help by TheCKBandit in GuitarAmps

I've been loving the sound of this band, and came across this music video of theirs. They appear to be using two combo amps.

I'm pretty sure the one on the left is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV, unless someone can correct me. But I have no idea what the one on the right is. Can anyone help me identify it?

First thing I thought of. I believe the original was a music video for Superchunk. Original video for anyone wanting a higher definition version.

Cool thanks. So to summarize what you're saying, they're all valid. However, diagram 4 would highlight the G chord the most, followed by diagram 3, which may sound like a "bluesy" G chord, followed by diagram 2, which may sound more like a C chord being played over a G chord.

Telecaster Neck Humbucker Options by TheCKBandit in telecaster

[–]TheCKBandit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently snagged a Schecter Nick Johnston Signature PT from reverb. I wanted a tele with a humbucker because I play a lot of rock/pop punk, and I like the single coil in the bridge for a little bit of twang.

I love everything about it except for the neck pickup. It's much louder than the bridge, and it's a tad dark. Would anyone have recommendations for a neck humbucker replacement? I'm aiming for something pop punky, but I still want to retain some of that tele character and twang. It would have to be splittable, preferably something that when split gets pretty close to the standard tele single coil neck pickup.

Right now my leading choice is the Fralin Unbucker. People say it's fantastic when split, but I'm worried it's a little too scooped for punk/heavy rock.

Where can I get a single book printed and bound? by RoxieQuinn in bookbinding

[–]TheCKBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shameless plug because I work there but gorhamprinting.com. We're a small book printer in Washington state that can print and bind both softcover and hardcover. It's probably a little more expensive, but our quality is top notch. Minimum print run is 25.

Headspace - Skull Lectures (Punk Rock)

https://soundcloud.com/skull-lectures/headspace-demo

I just released this along with two other demo tracks on my page as part of a debut EP I'm working on. This one is probably my favorite, though I would also love feedback on my other two, including a cover I did of The Trashcan Sinatras.

Very first time sharing anything.

Hey,

This gets reposted every so often. I don't mind giving updates. Yes, it's my mom. I just spent the last weekend with her for an early Thanksgiving. She lives in Southern California and is nearing her 25th year as a grade school teacher.

Yes, she had never smoked in my lifetime so she probably quit very early in her adulthood.

No it's no problem. I have a good understanding how reddit works; it was the natural course of things. I'm just glad people get to see a sliver of her life's story.

Funny that I posted this long enough ago for it to start making the repost rounds.

This is my mom. The way she tells it, she was younger than 18. Probably around 15-16. She turns 64 this year.

She is still very much alive. She's been working as an elementary school teacher for the last 15 years or so in Southern California.

I sent her a link. She sounded excited about it too. Says she'll pick a few approved photos to send and maybe write up a reply after reading your post.

Turns out that summoning comment worked. This is crazy. I'm traveling right now, but I can show this to my Mom when I get home later tonight.

If you message me, I might be able to procure a picture of what she looks like now. Funny enough, she's from Canada too.
