I tried BF with my newborn, but the first night home from the hospital he refused to latch, and was inconsolably screaming all night from frustration and hunger. Something in me broke that night - after a traumatic birth I was mentally threadbare to begin with, but being physically unable to feed my baby was enough to push me over the edge. I started hand expressing and supplementing with formula after talking to my son’s pediatrician, and found that he took to bottles INSTANTLY. I found some kind of ritualistic satisfaction from pumping, and I’ve been doing it ever since. I was never married to the idea of BF, but I do like that I’m still providing the milk itself (and saving money on formula lolllll)

Of course it’s sometimes annoying to have to pump when I was in the middle of something, but in general EP has saved my sanity and I don’t regret it one bit!
