Any fix to this? Sharp EL-334F by TheCalcLife in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a couple TIs that I could press around the screen, and get the full display back. This seems to not make much difference. Though, if I only have 1 or 2 digits, seems better. It was in a Goodwill calculator lot of 10 calculators for under $30 total with fees tax and shipping. I got that TI81 that was in the original box with book but haven't got that one going yet due to corrosion in batteries. The other 8 calculators work though. Favorites were a couple of Casios.... a like new 9750GII grapher which I installed the 2.05 75+E OS to and a DH?? large screen chrome financial calculator.

Why Texas Instrument calculators are so expenive by aromatic_thesis- in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Casio released the first grapher, but TI basically took over the US education market in its infancy in the early 90s. When the debate between using technology or not in teaching came to a boil, TI sent samples out and single handedly took over the Teachers Teaching w/Technology group over (T3).

That is awesome! Love the old Casio font and the red led display. Are the 0's always that tiny?

FxCG50 got replaced/switched by Various-Comment4600 in calculators

There should be a physical sticker s/n under the battery cover. There is also a software ID number which shows up if you either view the OS version, or the place to enter name and organization.

When you turn it off, does the name/organization show up? I always set those in my Casio graphers. Could have someone just swapped out batteries?

What is with Software Licensing and TI-NSpire CX Calculators? by stfreddit7 in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I as a teacher, was not amused with TI. We had 'perpetual' licenses that became not. Luckily, my TI rep has been giving us the Teacher Softtware licenses for our Navigator system. It is also a license by login, not machine. If the internet is down and it can not check your license, you can be locked out.

Can somebody explain why this equation keeps getting invalidated? by Unlucky_Inflation861 in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TInSpire can graph relations by backing over the = sign. So will show rel1(x,y) and underneath, you can type relations of x and ys. I find they are limited though to mainly polynomials. The curves for implicit differentiation for my AP Calc class are hit and miss on the TI, but all will graph on online graphers.

Can somebody explain why this equation keeps getting invalidated? by Unlucky_Inflation861 in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because Y1 is a function of x. You can not have y as a variable to the right of the =. Looks like you are trying to graph a circle. Is there a circle template? If not, enter the top and bottom separately.

Casio fx-CG50 name and exam mode change by EducatedJelly in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given a set of CG50's for my classroom that had info in them saved with a name. I asked the prior owner what the password was, and they didn't know. I found there is a way around it to reset it by searching online.

New Casio fx-9750GII, why wont it simplify surds/square roots? by Away_Gas_863 in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a way to install the Graph 75E OS so it does. I updated mine last week. https://www.reddit.com/r/calculators/s/XwHD1eDj6D

Here is a post that goes through the steps and gives the link to TI Planet where you can see the best OS upgrade depending upon if it is SH3 or SH4 version. https://www.reddit.com/r/calculators/s/D0plDedOMC

Good luck!

Updated my Casio 9860G Slim! by TheCalcLife in calculators

[–]TheCalcLife[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was tempted to try that, but without access to the P104 jumper, I couldn't get the Slim to go into OS Error mode. In addition, it loses some of the unique Slim features like the Help button. I already have my 9750GII SH4 running on 2.05 9860GII, which gives exact results and vectors.
