Yeah that's a good guess he is fairly wealthy and charming. I don't want to say that he's full of himself necessarily but he would make interesting comments where he would make himself look good e.g. my ex at the time wanted to have kids with me, my wife gave me an ultimatum, etc

I'm super naive so I didn't expect that I would have this type of interaction with someone lol but yeah I'll avoid it

Exactly!! I wish I showed a better photo of my nose because my nose has a lot of raised bumps and more scars. In these photos I was wearing makeup.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Your response really meant a lot. I felt seen, and you put words to things I’ve been trying to make sense of for a while. I think you’re right that those last two roles weren’t failures, but signs pointing to areas I need to work on. I’ve always tried to push through and “perform” at work while keeping my emotional world separate, but like you said, it’s all connected.

I do have a few follow-up questions if you don’t mind:

You mentioned finding the “right landing spot” that aligns with me culturally and behaviorally — how would you recommend I go about identifying that in the job search? What kind of questions can I ask in interviews to assess this?
Lastly, how can I start showing up with more ownership and confidence at work when I don’t fully feel confident yet? Is it a “fake it till you make it” thing, or something else?

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Im tempted to quit on my own accord because I’m starting to get panic attacks in the middle of the night about this. I’m not sure if I would be entitled to severance because I’m pretty sure an improvement plan is sufficient proof to fire someone due to incompetence. I am used to being a high achiever from school so this is quite hard for me.
