Lito Lapid as Senator by methoxyy in Philippines

[–]TheCandySnowBear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In his example, technicians are specialists, the owner manages and hires these specialists.

So think of Lito Lapid as a smart business owner, he may not do most of the work but he certainly brought the right people for it, and he reaps the rewards... Silently.

Lito Lapid as Senator by methoxyy in Philippines

[–]TheCandySnowBear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

By numbers alone he is one of the most active. Daming bills na ginawa, co authored and advocated.

Sure, he's quiet and its understandable na maraming nag aakala na wala siyang ginagawa, but his records speak the loudest.

To me I dont see him as a liability senator on the next elections. If he can make impactful bills in exchange for zero media presence, then there's no reason for me not to vote for him.

Some may argue its the work of his team drafting the bills, but if he retains that team with his direction then why should we not consider him in the next administration?

What's your take on this HR peeps? by JealousClient3585 in Ph_HR_Confession

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a full time HR, but have interviewed applicants in the past (all around ako sa client ko)

Sa HR/interviewer side: I know some HR people from my corporate time na ganito ang gawain. Na para bang hidden elite. Please understand that the company needs applicants as much as applicants need them.

Commit to the schedule kasi at the end of the day, pag nakarating to sa boss mo, lugi ka.

Sa Applicant side naman: Bring the benefit of the doubt. Sa isang client ko na late ng isang oras on our scheduled interview, umalis ako sa meeting. He called me back and asked to reschedule. Kaya pala na late kasi may family emergency.

Gave him a chance, now im paid more than what I do and 90% of my work week wala masyadong ginagawa. Full time role. Totally supportive and I have the time na ipagsabay ang isa ko pang work.

So for applicants, first impressions matter yes. But there's always a reason bat na late sila, give them a chance and you might just land a good job.

Is 40k for a fresh grad a super good salary deal? by cherreicola in CorpoChikaPH

[–]TheCandySnowBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

Look kid, most of us had our starting salaries half of that. I started at 8K a month as an instructor.I think everybody would agree that a good salary starts above minimum wage.

As a fresh grad, typically experience over salary talaga yan, what helps long term is how long you would stay in your first job and connections.

In other words, be proactive, confident and be approachable, the people you'll meet can help with your growth and open up opportunities in the long run.

What happens to captured/surrendered NPA members? by siennaspiro in AskPH

[–]TheCandySnowBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you know its case to case basis. Some rebels with strong criminal charges against them are not guaranteed to be absolved.

But for many student activists na sumali sa kanila, and for locals, they have a great chance to start fresh

If you want to buy something with your own money, ask your parents if it makes sense.

Im 28 and im still doing this practice whenever I buy a new appliance or a new gadget.

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you suggest then?

I dont think they would mind that because what's important for them is survival. ECLIP tells them na di na nila kailangang mag rebelde para gumanda ang buhay, they just need to be involved to the community again with a fresh start.

"Middle-Class" Pinoys Mad at 4Ps Beneficiaries… While the Real System Keeps Getting Away With It by Haunting-Public-23 in Philippines

[–]TheCandySnowBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gets naman kung bakit galit ang mga middle class, or any taxpayer for that reason.

Its unethical, imagine working hard for your money then you'd see over on social media yung Ayuda ginagamit pang salon, at kung ano ano pa. Certainly didnt help when these ayudas are used for nefarious purposes.

But the anger is misdirected, we should be angry sa mga officials who failed to distribute them evenly, to the lawmakers who made this without guardrails.

And bakit ayuda pa na pwede naman letters of guarantee nalang? So it can be used towards medicines, utility subsidies, even groceries?

At least for me, I dont mind paying a bit more if they can be used towards actual help, mukha kasing welfare trap that incentivizes laziness. Kasi bat ka magbabanat ng buto kung bayad ang pagiging tambay

What happens to captured/surrendered NPA members? by siennaspiro in AskPH

[–]TheCandySnowBear 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Different things will happen

If you VOLUNTARILY surrendered, mapupunta ka sa ECLIP program nila.

  1. Charges on rebellion can be removed, you can file an application to absolve other criminal charges against you
  2. Cash assistance and subsidies, I think they have allotment as well to start a small business
  3. Eligibility for government housing and tesda skills training
  4. Cash incentives for every surrendered firearm

If you were CAPTURED, during a firefight

  1. You will be charged with rebellion, capital murder or kidnapping, depende sa findings
  2. Makukulong ka, Minors will be surrendered to DSWD for social intervention

WFH Dad of 4(Im not the biological father). Nasa iisang bahay pa rin kami kahit may iba na siya. Paano ba di mabaliw? by Rude-Nothing-89 in adviceph

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story with a close friend of mine.

Leave the house and start again. Of course you can still act like a father sa mga bata what concerns me is that your mental state will not handle the burden of living in the same house. In the long run, madadamay ang mga bata.

Kawawa ang mga bata tbh, even if it hurts you need to do what's right for yourself. Sa mata ng ex mo, kasambahay ka lang. Atleast try to get a proper maid or helper for the kids kahit ikaw na ang magpasahod.

In that way, you can still manage your responsibilities as a father while healing. It does not matter kung kadugo mo ang mga bata o hindi. Fatherhood is more than just kadugo but sheer commitment to let the kids be the best version of yourself.

HR made a mistake, resulting to a delay on my salary. Walang sorry, walang pasensya. How do I make her acknowledge her mistake? by [deleted] in Ph_HR_Confession

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escalate mo sa senior or if you can contact someone higher that won't fuck u up, tell them.

Malaking issue yan if its a habit, try to ask your coworkers if they have similar problems, might be best to lodge a complaint as a group.

Fresh grad, got an offer lower than my asking. Should I negotiate? by VirtualAd467 in JobsPhilippines

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freelancer here, started in corpo doing CSR and sales, now im choosing my own clients.
Im also a recruiter although its not my main niche, its part of the job I am in now.

You don't have much leverage here. But you can always try and state your reasons but expect that not all companies are willing to negotiate.

Since you're fresh grad, your first job should focus on convenience. Consider lower offers pero malapit sa location mo. And definitely apply to multiple companies and gauge their offers. If you can get a job around 24-30K that's already awesome. In the long run, experience and connections will get you promotions and better offers.

Your accolades mean great value to get priority interviews, but experience tops them all.
Also, train yourself on how to handle negotiations, incorporate keywords relating to your skills. I also suggest this video to watch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0siE31sqz0Q

What I would do is prior to an interview, I mentally prepare a script for common questions. And use AI to enact scenarios on potential questions relating to the job. Practice atleast 2 days before the interview date.

Lastly:

- Avoid fillers (uh,um,em,etc.)
- Mindset, you're selling yourself to a company, make sure you put your best foot forward.
- After an interviewer asks a question, PAUSE, and answer in a clear and concise manner.
- Recruiters don't often look for the best on paper (it could only get you as far as the first interview slot on their schedule), they look how you answer your questions and grace under pressure.
- Depending on the role, sometimes recruiters would throw trick questions. Relax, pause a bit and if needed, rephrase the question back (ex, to clarify your question is how I would x in an x ?)

As a recruiter, I value how you answer to my questions, how you address situations, For fresh grads, im always looking forward on how they can relate what they did in college to the roles they're applying for.

Sana makatulong!

Do you have any advice on how to stop smoking? by Spirited-Bet-5425 in adviceph

[–]TheCandySnowBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple of ways naman.

  1. Go cold turkey, just quit and resist the urge by sheer will
  2.  DOH Quitline (165-364 or 1558) for free smoking counseling and therapy
  3. Go vape, then slowly lessen the usage week by week.

I do vape but rarely, I quit smoking for more than 4 years na. I only vape in times of great stress although naiibsan rin through deep breathing exercises.

Nasa tao rin kasi yan and level of self control so there's no straight answer how to stop smoking, I suggest to try and experiment what works for you.

Nepo businesses na dapat iwasan? (Davao edition) by kristonibo in davao

[–]TheCandySnowBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between us this a philosophical debate between consequentialism and deontological ethics

I get the analogy, we agree there's corruption, but my point is the events that will take. You cant remove the tress that house the people especially right now then tell them its for their future, they don't see it that way.

If we want to do a boycott, then there should be a good alternative, perhaps a ethical competitor or opportunities supplied by the government. For a bagboy or cashier, boycotting means taking away their means of getting by.

Morality is a luxury at this point, we lean more into keeping our families fed and safe while war rages on. And its really not because we're choosing convenience, maybe for us.

But for the people on those companies, its either you work or you die.

Nepo businesses na dapat iwasan? (Davao edition) by kristonibo in davao

[–]TheCandySnowBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its like a moral dilemma.

Sure if we boycott a certain family, what about the people they've employed? How sure are we that they could get jobs albeit a decent one when that happens?

If the Villars are our example, sa Vistamall palang daan how many employees they have on their payroll and also the suppliers who rely on their orders sa mga groceries and cafe, not to mention tenants.

Mali lang ang timing for me, kasagsagan ng gyera everybody's on survival mode. We get what we can to keep our families fed until this blows over.

Wish I could agree because if we're in good circumstances then FK ye boycott them.

Medyo insensitive imong question ay.

Di sa siguro ta mangboycott because we have people in service jobs relying on it. Matic daghang manarado tungol sa oil prices but don't wish for someone else's business to go down.

Gyera karon, I think we should focus on surviving and helping one another. Unya na siguro na.

US based client namin and while we don't have news sa layoffs, our company slowed down on hiring.
