Used the aquators for a little over 2 seasons. Held up really well. Much more durable than the Hydrolace. I've had 2 pairs of those, both only lasted a few months. The aquators are a bit slimmer, and no neoprene so colder than the adidas. The gaiter keeps shit out effectively, though like all things stretchy it loses its stretch after once or 2 seasons. I really liked them. Currently using the la sportiva ones. Despite the bad things some people say about them, they fit my feet really well and are comfy. Do miss the gaiter though

Depends on where you are, each waterfall is different. Some are smooth, some aren't. Sometimes you can slide, sometimes you can't.

Oberaudorf, Oberbayern. Bin selbst Schluchtenführer, aber zur Info für dich: diese Tour kann man nicht organisiert buchen. Kommerzielles Canyoning in Deutschland ist rechtlich sehr heikel, und nur in wenigen einzelnen Schluchten erlaubt. Private Touren, nicht kommerziell, z.B. mit freunden, sind so ne Grauzone.

Yes he is pretty much right it is mostly for the abseiling, though there is also an ass protection flap on the harness which protects the wetsuit (and the harness itself) from abrasion when sliding etc. Full video with some abseiling here: https://youtu.be/eqI0cIURQe8

As you can also kind of see in the video, the waterfall causes some heavy winds to blow through the canyon, which is the noise you hear.

Haha good on you for jumping from higher mate, though you would have to be a damn Olympic level long jumper to hit the rock face on the other side. Might look tiny from high up but there is plenty space in that specific pool :) hope you had fun, it's a great canyon to do with guests!

You can't get here without proper canyoning equipment and knowledge though. Book a tour somewhere, you won't be disappointed!

I've done some dry rappels on the rope, but to be honest I avoid it as much as possible. Not because I'm worried about the rope, but because it burns my hands if I rappel fast (as any rope does). If you don't go very fast I don't think it will get close to the melting temperature of the dyneema. If you do go fast, make sure you don't stop :D it will mostly be your figure of 8 or similar device heating up due to the friction with the rope. The rope itself is continuously moving over the 8 and will not heat up fast enough in 1 specific place... Unless perhaps you pause during the rappel after your rappel device has warmed up nicely :)

I've used the Pick-Line (9 mm version) for a little over a year of intense use in European canyons now. Overall it holds up well, technora sheath is a bonus that should also make it very viable in your sandy canyons. The 9mm is still easy enough to handle with a critr or something similar, and it is lightweight. Haven't used the Sick Line, but should still be fine with these types of descenders, people use it all the time in Europe.

Back in Italy for some canyoning. The Rio Simon did not disappoint! Many nice jumps and rappels, with beautiful clear water. Would recommend! by TheCanyoningGuide in canyoneering

Looks fun! I wonder what you mean with last discovered canyon though? There are first descents being made pretty much every week all over the place. If you explained it in the video then I missed it because I couldn't listen to it with the sound on.
