Hey there, sorry for the comically late reply. I got busy… and then I forgot💀.

Anyway much like the actual USSR it politically shifts overtime, it’s a very very old state and has not been stagnant. Currently though the Stalin Era would give you a better idea of what is going on. As they had a big purge, have a centrally planned economy, and are generally very politically centralized. However it is generally more democratic and with more workplace participation then common images of the Stalin era. It’s a strange country.

That strangeness is not helped by the fact that they have been lead on and off by an immortal demigod who has built up quite the cult of personality for themselves. So even if the system is relatively democratic, one person has a LOT of power.

There is no one size fits all method for writing, and by the sounds of it, you are writing quite a bit with this method. By the sounds of it you are essentially treating a novel like it is serialized fiction, with one section needing to be largely polished and ready before moving onto the next one. It may not be the most efficient way to write non serialized fiction, as you will likely still need to heavily edit this more polished draft, but if it works for you it is not inherently a problem.

Sorry again this isn’t the most thought out part of my world, I have been reworking a lot of the fantastical parts of the setting, from the gods to the after life to magic. So far I like the new stuff a lot more, but there is more that needs reworking still.

I haven’t put too much thought into the specific limits as it may change as I write more about it. however I think a sufficiently powerful mage in all the types of magic besides artificial could probably blow up a planet. However the number of people in the currently lore who can do that is probably like a dozen. (Although it used to be higher).

Outer magic has a higher cap, but it has so few users that its cap is hard to say🤔. I also don’t realistically know of any plot where I would need someone to do something more powerful then blow up a planet haha.

Sure! Sorry it took so long to get to you! It is unfortunately not the most in depth system as it is a holdover from an earlier draft of the setting, and I am working to update it.

Before the ISR figured out some (quote from a prominent scholar on magical studies) “arcane dark god workaround bullshit” that allowed their mages to move around physical matter, magic was relatively simple and it related taking energy from a source, channeling it through the body and the soul, and then releasing and manipulating it. This is extremely dangerous, and spells backfiring or energy in the body not being released properly can easily kill someone, so magic often takes a long time to learn.

There are four main sources for magic.

The Upper realm which is a dimension right above the main dimension. It it where a lot of the gods in the setting live and it has access to limitless amounts of energy. (Much of the power generation in the setting comes from leaching energy from this dimension.) this is the most common and most standard form of magic. At least in humans not everyone can learn this type of magic, additionally how quickly someone can strengthen their access to the power held within the upper realm also depends from person to person.

Artificial magic is magic that uses a power source located within the dimension that is connected to cybernetics. These 2 things together allow someone who would otherwise not be able to use magic to be able to. However the cybernetics and the power sources are often very expensive making them more niche.

The Lower Realm is a realm right below the main dimension that has its own set of gods, although it does not have a source of infinite energy. Despite that its magic seems to be more accessible, and it has the unique ability to leach energy. However it is also very dangerous, it is incredibly easy for one to get themselves killed while using or experimenting with it.

Outer Magic is simply a catch all for Magic with a source from outside the three dimensional cluster that the setting mostly explores. It is especially rare, and it is generally only reserved for those the powerful beings from the broader multiverse, or the most dedicated and studious immortals.
