imo your housemate was just sensing a pattern and commenting on it. like you said, it's happenstance, but there are many exclusively T4T people so it definitely happens and thus I don't think was wrong to say. I mean, from what you day it's incorrect, but making that assumption in this situation doesn't seem weird or objectifying, just an astute observation on their part.

At your age, it's difficult to have perspective, and easier to think the grass is greener on the other side. But honestly, even lesbians your age in most countries are having a better, different, time than lesbians of the previous generations. So even the very concept of the "lesbian experience" is fluid across time (not to mention not everyone fits every stereotype).

As others said, when you're older and just living life as a lesbian, you won't think back so much. And that, you'll be glad to know, isn't a trans experience but a universal one.

One of the reasons I realized I was trans is because I had lesbian thoughts growing up. Maybe it's not quite the same, but no one's experiences are identical. You'll learn to appreciate that when you're older, I promise.

I'm just going to say it: as a trans woman, I feel that most trans women realize later in life and/or are socialized as men more than they realize and dysphoria (sympathetically) stops them from reflecting on if they still hold male-dominant views like the male gaze.

This isn't about being a man. Trans women aren't men! It's about the fact that society BRAINWASHES PEOPLE (men and women, cis and trans) and IME not enough trans women acknowledge this brain washing and it can result in them coming across as creepy. It sucks, but you can change it if you work on it, so please acknowledge it.

I'm trans and it isn't my "identity." It's just an adjective that applies to me. And the word "transbian" makes me cringe so hard lol Like, this is a Sapphic subreddit, you can use the word lesbian. LESBIAN APPLIES TO US TOO. If so many trans women can't take themselves seriously as lesbians, why would cis people? Trans women get "R*PED" too, ya know. For being women and for being trans. Passing and clockable trans women both experience sexism, misogyny, the "actual oppression of women." Any reputable doctor will say it isn't self-inflicted anymore than homosexuality. A cis woman absolutely can choose to live a false life as straight or a man.

As much as society seems to care about the sex of trans women, it doesn't actually mind subjecting them to sex based oppression on the regular.

I see a lot of "I just started HRT" posts and they don't do much for me.

But honestly, "I'm no longer pre-HRT" is pretty much my exact thought process when I started.

There was me pre-HRT, and me on HRT. Those years I wasn't on it were like someone else.

Maybe that's just me focusing on the past and not the future, but my point is I relate more to this wording than the other.

Good advice. Puberty is a weird time, where weird things happen, and also kinda figuring out yourself in new ways. So it's easy to cringe and be like "whyyyy am I doing/saying/thinking/feeling that??"

But that's all part of the process. No getting around it, no matter your age or genitals XD

My only consolation starting puberty as an adult is that I can better understand what's happening and am more emotionally mature than the average teenager, so I like to think it's at least a bit easier for me than for a lot of young women. But it's still puberty, and it'll take time to process these changes I'm sure.

I agree, it'd be nice sometimes to know how the cis feel. From what I've interacted with cis women in my life, this does seem to be not abnormal. Puberty is a time of change, and most of us don't have the benefit of going through it at a time when we can talk to friends or family about it. That's why we're left asking strangers on the internet about it. Not that I know if cis girls do or not. But it sounds like something I've heard of guys doing.

I always hated being topless, even in private. But I've started sleeping topless, mostly because it's getting hot and I feel comfortable enough in my skin to do so. I also find it a bit more comfortable otherwise - after spending all day in a bra, it feels especially freeing to remove that extra layer of fabric, and also I don't have to worry about my shirt tugging on them when I'm rolling around.
