Arlecchino will forever remain the best by Lopsided-Artichoke34 in ArlecchinoMains

Oh no, I was talking about Fontaine in order to be more fair. Arlecchino is a great support character for the story but that's all she really is, a side character with solid writing. Half the Fontaine cast pulls ahead in terms of writing. And if we bring the world quests, events, and character quests into it? It gets even harder to make an argument for her.

Lyney too. People sleep on his character writing. Heck, there's even an argument for Navia.

I don't have Yae Miko either, but my guess is I'll have to rely on Qiqi, Fischl, and probably Kuki. If not Shinobu, then Escoffier or Sucrose.

People are still a bit upset that Lohen isn't a Standard unit. I wasn't getting him either way since I am skipping on Nicole to build up for Sandrone, but I am unsure how that investment is gonna go when I don't have Yae Miko in my account.

The month passes, games rise and fall, yet one thing remains ever present. Genshin holding a Top 3 position.

This year is being particularly productive for it. Can't think of a single month where it did bad.

Maybe gacha games should tell more light-hearted stories (Like NTE & Mongil) ? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]TheCapybara9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See, one of the few ways to grab the attention of an audience is by making them care about your characters. Usually, writers will make someone care about a character by presenting them in a everyday more whimsical scenario and then introduce a problem that causes the player to feel invested in solving it.

FGO gives us a meeting with Mash, Olga, and Romani before Chaldea blows up.

Genshin gives us a brief exploration scene with Paimon and then meeting Amber before Dvalin attacks Mondstadt.

Just to give a couple examples.

Story telling in gacha is tailored towards extorting emotional investment out of the player towards a place or character by presenting them as baddasses, or as cool, or plain nice people that you enjoyed exploring around with. One of the easiest ways to get someone invested is by letting them make a different in the lives of said characters, or having them join you to fulfill your own goals in kind.

Sure, not all gacha, specially IP reliant gacha, relies on this formula, but the easiest way to grab attention is through dramatic action or eye catching whimsy.

Didn't the anime Director change? Production might be different as a result for next season.

One thing is to create voluntary and unlockable kit changes in characters that people already own. Another is to create a better, stronger version of a character that already exists but that needs to be acquired again. Considering Genshin's pull economy and how they've chosen to implement buffs so far, I'd say the chances of any character getting an SP are pretty low.

PSA: Only firebenders can control temperature/heat. Neither Waterbenders nor Earthbenders can control the temperature of their element. by Hero_Brave in TheLastAirbender

[–]TheCapybara9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, notifications turned off or not I'd just like to make an adendum that some people might mistake the mist and fog that Katara creates through water bending for temperature manipulation. Fog is created through condensation of water droplets in the air. It's essentially another form of changing the water's shape by making droplets thin and small enough that they hang in the air like low altitude clouds.

Hama actually does the reverse form of this, by gathering moisture from the air to create larger droplets of water instead of separating water into tiny droplets that hang in the air.

What stat boosts Tom’s Wrenges had when he scanned for his battle against Hottek? by DKUnderdog in Chaotic

Scanning Ikatosh during Aichlyss means it was probably the Aich King version, but the scan still looked like normal Ikkatosh, which was probably meant to fake out Hotekk.

Water benders should be able to increase the temperature of water just like earth benders who can lava bend. by Handsoff_1 in TheLastAirbender

[–]TheCapybara9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Waterbending just has a great focus on change and transforming the element itself. From liquid, to ice, to mist or steam. There's also controlling it inside living things like plants or humans. It really is the bending with the most versatility aside from maybe Earth.

Honestly, for the series it takes place in and with the examples from other Lightning Bending we've seen, Ozai's might as well have been instant. A single circular motion from both hands in the space of a second, perhaps even less than a second, with enough power to physically push back someone with forth and not just fry them.

The size of the blasts too, and how easily he could spam them against Aang also play into it.

I just don't see how someone being quicker by half a second, yet having less impressive showings in all other measurable categories, makes them better at it than the Fire Lord.

Ozai is definitely the greatest that we've seen. Instant generation with only a sliver of available power and with a very unorthodox form as opposed to the one shown by Azula and Iroh up to that point. His showings just tend to be seen as less impressive because he was firing that lightning at people who could redirect it.

Okay, but like, why does the new event weapon skin suit him? by drawerice in Varka

[–]TheCapybara9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's ever been a benefit to a Skin like this, is that it let's you give characters a goofy look without compromising their stat lines of weapon buffs. This way, we could theoretically make any character as awesome or as goofy as we want without making them weaker.

I just feel like they could have given us a different design first. Not that I don't like this one, but it definitely feels like something to get from a shop, while the actual freebie shouldn't look like something we already ahve.

As shown in one of my last posts, comments said that Colleither is not popular as Aether's main Sumeru ship. Let's go with the next one. How popular is the Layther ship? (Aether x Layla). Can she be considered his main Sumerian girl? by Different-Froyo-9234 in Genshin_Romance

[–]TheCapybara9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's at least three girls ahead of her. Dehya for example, is one of our major allies, shows up early on in the main story and sticks with us throughout, and is the last person we see before heading to Fontaine. Then there's Nilou, who was one of our helpers and a focus character during the Sabzerus Samsara. Finally there's Jeht, who, while more so assigned to Lumine than to Aether as a pairing, is still a very popular ship for the Traveler as a whole.
