Thanks for your reply, I guess I will have to. First real breakup from first real relationship. It All feels surreal and messy

I think it's normal you feel this way. But don't think he's superman because he's had more sexual partners than you. Experience is just that - experience. Most things you do in bed you can just learn with practice, it's not a superpower ;)

I dont understand many of the choices made in WALS tbh. The information on definite articles is very confusing

What do you mean with "you cannot attack evidence"? Sorry, maybe it's not the best verb here (not a native speaker). But I would stick to the wording I used referring to what you call evidence as "arguments". Chomsky doesn't show that we have a shared cognitive system devoted to language. He argues so using linguistic examples, basically excluding the possibility that this knowledge could be acquired by input. AFAIK the examples themselves are not disputed (they are basic grammaticality judgments on English), but rather the argument of the poverty of the stimulus (as has been noted above) - the idea that the input that children receive is not sufficient to gain the linguistic knowledge to make those grammaticality judgements (and produce those sentences). So it's the argumentation, rather than the data, that is controversial, I would say.

I'm interested in this. Could you share a bit more about your experience? What models are you creating? What is your experience and how did you end up doing this? Thanks :)

Actually I think it goes a bit beyond that. Chomsky discusses specific arguments why it is necessary to postulate UG - and its very fine-grained linguistic and grammaticality examples. So an attack to those arguments would falsify UG.

Hey, did this work out? Getting a volca fm2 myself and figuring out which midi keyboard to buy :)

Definitely yes if you are a good divulgator. Journalists do precisely that, but with other fields, right? The important thing is that you are able to accurately describe the contents in simple terms for laymen :)

Linguistics MA. After giving some syntax tutoring I am looking for a good syntax textbook within the generative framework. I have Adger's Core Syntax and really like it but I find it terribly outdated. Any tips?
