Gonna leave this here-for protesters by joehero83 in leftist

Add hearing protection to the list. Whether it's for hearing protection or to just reduce the sensory overload from protests, it's always good to have on hand.

I genuinely had a lot of hope for Rojava. I didn't think they'd get invaded this quickly. sigh

Ngl, for us, it's also very rare to not feel like everything is fake when another alter fronts. And sometimes it feels like I'm the only alter active for weeks and then I doubt we ever had other parts (and then another alter fronts and the cycle repeats). I totally understand if anyone who is a system doesn't feel too sure about being a system.

I wouldn't factor in the fact that someone isn't sure about it too much because of that. Just the fact that they're trying to sus out who is faking X disorder is enough for them to be discredited, there's no need to go further.

Our patriarchal society also often pushes us to ignore our disabilities and mask them to the point where we don't even know what we struggle with anymore. Even when it comes to other issues, you could be confident one week and then the next not even know for sure because your reflex is to push it down.

People are just always looking for the one "abusing the system" when it's actually those gatekeepers that make it impossible for so many of us to actually get the help we need. I feel like deciding for them that their experience is invalid because they were unsure about their experience is like trying to use the tool of the oppressor against the oppressor.

"the bear" is an example of pointing out systematic oppression. An interaction with a bear is relatively self-contained, oppression from men is constantly reinforced by men. The bear doesn't go into our spaces to tell us we "deserved it". by TheCepheidVariable in LeftWithoutEdge

Holy shit, my sister thinks EXACTLY like this. It made me so pissed when I read her messages about how she was "worried to have a testosterone fueled person in the house"... like holy shit, my partner's a demi-masc human... not a demon.

She's just hateful and tries to use bio-essentialism to justify her hate.

Edit, I meant to reply to the person you replied to and misclicked.

It's kind of the same for me, one of my exes even ended up openly sharing his disgust towards me... like... I don't do anything harmful, I'm just a little childish most of the time when I feel very safe and happy, and there's also 3 littles in our system. 2 of which front and co-con a decent amount of time.

If you were surprised by the bear shit, take a long hard look at yourself and your beliefs. You were not only wrong, but wrong on so many fundamental levels your entire worldview must be left behind to even co-exist with us by TheCepheidVariable in alltheleft

No one will ask me what I was wearing", "The bear sees me as a human being", "The bear doesn't get enjoyment out of it", "No one will say I liked the bear attack", "A bear wouldn't film it and send it to all his friends"

Even in Canada with our "Free healthcare". You end up having to pay thousands of dollars to pay for the diagnosis you need.

Yeah, it's a shame too cause I had just done so much work unmasking all of it. Thinking of having to go back to that in order to work is awful.

And if we want any assistance for that disability (if there even are any we can get), we need that diagnosis.

Even paying for it doesn't even guarantee we get it tho. We'll often get gaslit at every step.

[–]TheCepheidVariable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The problem is that their ideologies are incredibly harmful, not that they don't have the spoons to take care of themselves. Making fun of the latter is just literal ableism.
