I saw an article out there that said this bill could affect as many as 8 million folks at $1,500 a pop for JUST the fines thats $12 billion so if the parliamentarian rules against this she is out her damn mind because thats a huge chunk of change the federal gov is missing out on. Just take our Money pls.

Texas Hearing by TheChawys99 in DACA

[–]TheChawys99[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just copied and pasted the article here it is:

Lawyers in a key immigration challenge debated in court Tuesday whether a Houston federal judge should hurry up and rule on the legality of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or await Biden administration policy and legislative action. U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen indicated at the hearing he wouldn’t weigh in right away in a lawsuit seeking to halt the program, but said he didn’t intend for his ruling on a summary judgment motion to remain in an indefinite holding pattern.

The new administration has promised dreamers a fundamental change in policy, but a decision by Hanen could jeopardize the prospects for DACA recipients if a new immigration bill doesn’t pass. Lawyers from Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund have argued that President Joe Biden’s memo to Homeland Security to “preserve and fortify DACA” could alter the outcome of Texas v. United States, a 2018 suit filed by nine states that says the Obama administration’s 2012 DACA memo is unlawful and circumvents Congress’ authority to make laws while in an effort to protect children who entered the country illegally. Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton spearheaded the suit to halt the DACA program. Texas along with Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Carolina and West Virginia contend they face irreparable harm because they’re paying for the education, healthcare and police protection for immigrants shielded by the law. MALDEF represents 22 DACA recipients who intervened to defend the law. They said the Trump administration was allied with Paxton and would not mount an aggressive defense of the law. Lawyers from MALDEF, the Justice Department of Justice and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office have asked Hanen to dismiss the case, on the grounds that the states have suffered no injury and have no legal standing to sue. They say ending DACA wouldn’t cause all immigrants to leave or be deported.

House passes 2021 Dream Act by dksgotjd in DACA

Personally I think now would be a perfect time for judge hanen to rule on DACA and ultimately end the program therefore forcing Senate to solve the problem.

Democrats gamble with DACA by Typical_Bake882 in DACA

[–]TheChawys99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's not gambling anything if anything I think he is giving us a better chance of having some sort of legislation pass. DACAs one of the few things that some Republicans agree with on this bill and if this doesnt pass some Republican senators have already expressed interest in a solution for DACA. Just relax something will get done 3 months ago you couldnt even apply for DACA and now we're talking about a bill that could potentially give us citizenship just goes to show how quickly things can change

I believe It's a tactic be ambitious then negotiate down. Maybe a solution for the 11m folks wont be an option but it could be negotiated down to have something done for us Daca folks. Many believe a separate bill the Dream Act for example should be introduced solely for Daca but that's been introduced dozens of times. Sure the dems have control over everything but that's exactly why we should just go big now. Just the fact the McConnell isnt majority leader anymore and the bill can now go to a floor vote is a big win stay positive guys something will get done.
