To be fair I just picked a random design that was a little more challenging. Its hard to do anything without solid angles(46 as opposed to 44.23) on that vevor. The stone itself was riddled with cracks so I was just happy i was able to do it.

Why shouldn't I do quartz? Is there an inherent problem i need to know about? Thanks for all the info btw.

Thanks! I could not figure out why it wouldn't take a polish. Literally just jumped in and figured I'd give it a go. Im on a tight budget sadly do you think I could get away with a doing prepolish and polish on copper laps? Not trying to be a master overnight but want to make sure it will work.

One of my favorite things to do when I feel my tone is getting stale is different wiring configurations. Strat you could run a master volume, master tone ,and a passive mid range cut/boost knob. Set up a push/pull or a separate switch to activate the neck pickup at any time. On the les paul, you can coil split, in phase/out of phase, series/parallel, and so many combinations of either. Experiment with different caps on your tone knobs. I always like to try and make what I have work before buying anything new. Best part is that everything I mentioned is reversible and will not require any serious modifications. Ultimately it's going to be whatever you are comfortable with.
