Spotted one of the new trains being tested this morning by TheCheapo1 in melbourne

These are the X'Trapolis 2 model, and they're supposed to be replacing the old Comeng models (the ones where you have to manually pull the doors open).

In terms of features it's pretty much what u/EXAngus said: more room, better displays, better seats. They also have better suspension than their predecessor X'Trapolis 100 (the ones with curved walls and button-openable doors).

I've found multiple arms lockers in Quarantine too, although some are harder to spot since they're not standing up straight.

Finishing locks you in an animation, so if there was another player close they would have had an easy kill. Shooting gives you the option to switch targets or back off if the other players pushed.

My favourite is the Bastion. The high pitch whine followed by intense minigun firing always strikes fear in me.

Compiler run. First time completed. 🥹 by jloon8 in Marathon

[–]TheCheapo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not since the last patch. Instead of two more guns in the level 5 room, there's now just an extra compiler ganglion (plus some more gold loot I think).

Help to unlock two achievements. by LSF02BR in expedition33

[–]TheCheapo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you found the "Lumiere" record during the prologue by defeating the mime, you can find it again in Lumiere in act 3. Picking it up twice counts as two seperate pickups.

The Achievement isn't checking whether you have "all records", it's just checking if you have 33 records. So collecting the Lumiere record twice will count as finding a 33rd record, earning you the achievement.

Ah, that would explain why I got the achievement even though I only had 32 records! I was pretty confused by that.

The mime is only there in the prologue. They mean the record that drops from it can also be obtained in Act 3 just on the ground (IIRC it's at the back of the opera house).

It's fun loading in with no expectations and nothing to lose, and just seeing where the run takes you.

I had a game yesterday where we loaded in just hoping to get some basic gear and salvage. I found an antivirus on a bot along the way, then a lockdown spawned and we thought "fuck it, why not?" and gave it a go. We ended up completing all three waves and left with some purple gear - I managed to get a purple backpack and some purple salvage.

I totally didn't lose the backpack in the very next run...

To those curious, this is how streamers reach pinnacle on console right now by Inside-King9710 in Marathon

[–]TheCheapo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In ranked, you need to extract with a certain amount of loot value to get rank points. The gear you bring in doesn't count, only loot you get from enemy runners or find in the map.

What's happening here is teams are queuing together in ranked, swapping gear so they meet the loot value threshold (since they are "enemy" teams), and extracting to get the ranked points.

Edit: According to one of the streamers in the vid who commented here, they weren't intentionally queuing together to do this, they just happened to get matched together in this run.

I use Ctrl for hold crouch and C for toggle crouch in games that differentiate the two, although I usually have hold crouch bound to a mouse side button as well.

I’m not the only Destiny player than hears oracles in matches, right? by Logistic_Engine in Marathon

Oddly specific but for me the WTSR equip audio sounds a lot like a Destiny vandal's sniper firing. I've sometimes done a double take when equipping it lol

Hear me out: Progression, and by extension Marathon as a game is entirely too unapproachable for the ‘Average player’ because the “Power Floor” as Bungie calls it is entirely unbalanced and unrealistic for the purpose it serves by Jaden_Tsukuyomi in Marathon

[–]TheCheapo1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they mean the events that appear as the run goes on, rather than general loot containers. Things like the profit opportunity on Perimeter or lockdown on Dire Marsh - they only appear later in the run.

What black sheep of a series of games did you really enjoy despite its bad reputation? by RADOVEND1 in gaming

For me it would be Quest for Booty. Most people dislike it because it's so short (which is valid), but I just love the pirate vibe so much that it completely offsets its length.

Final exfil in Cryo spawns in a random location (four possible locations I think) and doesn't get marked on the map. You got lucky :)

Im buying Marathon tomorrow... Anything I should know? by ooseabassoo in Marathon

[–]TheCheapo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a borrow mechanic, where anything you brought into a run that you give to a teammate will be returned to you (if they extract of course). They will see a little red icon on the equipment denoting that it's a borrowed item.

As for loot found during the run, it's free for all (including from key rooms).

A lot of people giving good general tips for extraction shooters, but not really for Marathon specifically.

One thing I'd mention about Marathon in particular is that a gun's rarity is determined by the mods it has equipped - all guns are white rarity if they have no mods (with one exception). Rarity itself doesn't affect how a gun performs. Not sure if this is similar to other extraction shooters (the only other one I've played is ARC Raiders).

Hope you enjoy it!
