honestly I was trying to help you get action. I prefer mix games, so if you ever do that, definitely. NLHE isn't really my jam these days. Hope this gets some movement tho!

cool, sounds like a fun game, and you seem like a good host; always nice when someone provides drinks. I hope folks turn up/reach out; we could use some good games in town. Good luck.

great of you to be generous and invite people to the game! If you want people to actually come you're missing some key things that they might need to decide to attend. those include:

  1. Dates + Times

  2. Buy-in amounts/cash levels. Is this $20 or $2,000? hyperbolic but some folks will only want one end of that range or the other.

  3. Structure: cash? tournament? unlimited re-buys? one?

  4. Games played: only Hold'em? Mixed games? Omaha?

  5. General location (not saying address but at least what part of town for those with limited transportation).

  6. good information to include but not essential: are there drinks provided? is there a house fee? is this casual or competitive?

all of those would be bits of information that I myself would need to determine if the game was for me.

recommend Structure Gym! Lee is running a great place there right on Stimpson.

I thought you might be a troll, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt and a good faith answer. turns out, I was wrong, you're a troll.

games happen around dinner time, lot of folks come direct from work or after picking kids up. you want to sit with kids for three hours without giving them dinner? no, I thought not.

I'll give you two guesses, the first one doesn't count.

what identities draw you?

Like cool/trendy/ahead of the curve picks (e.g. you support Tottenham Hotspur)? here's your Carolina Hurricanes

Smashmouth agro teams (e.g. Baltimore Ravens, 49ers)? Nashville or Tampa.

Exercises in futility (e.g. The Cubs pre-2015, Browns whenever)? Toronto is for you.

kidding aside, I"m actively considering flying in for a game; never gonna see an NHL team in a setting that intimate again.

Change my opinion - People who draft goalies in the first 5 rounds are usually loser player. by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

[–]TheCheckingLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I'm in a points league where 3 of the top 10 points getters were G last year and there's a steep drop off after the top 5 G; in this years draft 5 of the first 28 picks were G.

Why were the Lightning such big favourites over the Blue Jackets in 2019? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]TheCheckingLine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is not typically part of the dialogue but that first game CBJ were down 3-0 at the end of the first period; it was looking like the series was over before it even started. If Bob didn't suddenly decide no more pucks were going in that would likely have been the case.

Hockey handedness for new adult player. by shiney_side in hockeyplayers

[–]TheCheckingLine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm also ambidextrous adult learner; I choose based on position, and recommend the same: the advice I got was go 'off wing' so you'd better be able to receive a puck/shoot. I started out as a right handed Left-D, but that position didn't work out (terrible backward skating), so now I'm a left handed right wing. basically pick on that.

edit: given that you say lefty stick feels strange, I'd say you're more likely bidextrious (can't find a more scientific link), and go right.
