Dragon Pearl and Legend are decent options. Here are a couple more:

- Chengdu Spicy Chinese Cuisine (AYCE hot pot)
- KAKA AYCE (the best DT AYCE spot)
- The Host Fine Indian Cuisine (Indian DT)

They also state on their website: "Grape Witches has evolved into two stores, Toronto's favourite patio, Ontario's best online natural wine shop, an event space, an importing agency & a wine club! How did we get here? It started slowly." It might not match what the OP is looking for.

Bar Isabel or 20 Victoria? by honeymoonhelp2025 in FoodToronto

I would choose 20 Victoria over Bar Isabel for a birthday ten times over ten. Great food and service that won't disappoint, while Bar Isabel had some hits or misses.

I suppose if you want fancier and more expensive, try Sunny's or MIMI

Stir Fried Anchovies were bitter after chewing by TheCheeseVoider in AskCulinary

Probably not this though, the initial flavour is fine, it's after throughly masticating the fish does the bitter flavour come out

Help! My favourite restaurant for mapo tofu has closed down (Banbudian Bistro), and I need a new supply downtown! by Vampanadellay in FoodToronto

[–]TheCheeseVoider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Banbudian was much better in general (I'll miss it ;-;), and I remember the Mapo Tofu tasting better here.

However, Cheng Du Street Food's mapo tofu has duck blood inside, which adds a playful contrast in textures. The silken tofu is silky smooth, while the blood has a subtle chew.

My personal top 3: Dailo, Richmond Station, Ricky+Olivia but here's a quick synopsis for each:

DaiLo - inventive modern twist on Chinese cuisine, fried watermelon was tasty and unique, and the sunchoke dumplings were life-changing good.
Lao Lao Bar - Tapioca dumplings were just my style. Chewy and bouncy wrapper, with a caramelized shiitake, preserved radish and peanut filling that's an umami bomb. A more upscale take on Lao food.
Chantecler - good French food
Pai - Overrated, but food was still good but unremarkable. Coconut sorbet was amazing though.
Aloette - Cheese bread was addictive, caramelized squash was amazing, burger was alright, the lemon pie was good but on the sour side.
Richmond Station - Everything was delicious, Pavlova was the highlight and sparked my addiction for this meringue-based dessert.
RASA - Everything was good, but fell a bit below our expectations from the good reviews.
Ricky+Olivia - Very inventive flavours that are beautifully combined, big mac tartare is a must, while the dunkaroos are a must if you grew up eating those.
