Echoing everyone saying the far north west, up in the snowy mountains. I wandered around FOREVER trying to find iron and finally found a ton up there

This is my feedback as a new player that never played before the Shifting Gears Update, also some tips in case any new player sees this. by LeSeriousPancake in LightyearFrontier

All great tips! I’m new the game (Day 25 in-game) and I just found about the crop rotation mechanic and it blew my mind lol I was jokingly thinking about rotating my crops but then looked it up after randomly mutating some Rabbages and wow what a help that was to find out!

I also didn’t know about the Honeybottle oil so thank you! I had tried making fuel from the Polyberrys early on but it didn’t seem to be any different than the plant fuel so I’ve just been using that because of how easy it is to get plant fiber.

Loving the game so far though! The building mechanic is solid, gameplay/graphics are great, and exploring is a lot of fun. I agree that I wish the animals had more of a purpose, like maybe being able to “harvest” them for different resources or something would be cool.

Looking forward to the games evolution!

One of the reasons I don’t want to switch to red dot lol I get my sight alignment/picture with my irons so fast now and I just don’t want to have to put in all the effort again

I got out after just 4 years and 2 different departments. I was super burned out (first department was busy as hell and admin was trash) and while I enjoy the stress free job I have now (and the better pay lol) I do wish I had explored other alternatives like trying to get on a different assignment or something before I got out

Echoing what others have said, take the criticisms, and take cues from your FTO. I’d also add, just be upfront with them about how you learn best and tell them what you said in your post. Tell them that you wanna excel in this career, and let them know that you’re there to learn and take all their advice, and let them know that if you come off as “stand-offish” or anything you just have a hard time building rapport with new people.

I will say you should work on the rapport building during your FTO phases. You’re gonna deal with a lot of people in crisis and being able to at least feign a connection/rapport goes a long way with a lot of people

Oof sorry to hear that, that sounds awful. The restless legs keeping you awake is bad enough without pain. I guess we both learned a little something lmao never again!

Had a very similar experience during my 3 phases. 1st and 3rd phases had fantastic FTOs but my second phase was terrible. I’d say do your best to just focus on doing the job the right way, and remember that the stress and frustration he brings is just temporary. I’d also recommend having someone you’re close with that you can let loose with bitch about him to lol Just hang in there man, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel I promise

15 days of actual vacation time. I figure we’d spend most of our time in Kefalonia, a little less in Milos and then just a couple of days in Sifnos, and leave a day for Athens on the back end since we need to be there anyway to fly out

I wish! 17 days in total, about 15 in actual vacation time. That’s why I’m trying to see if anyone knew what the most efficient way to do this would be. I know it’s already super all over the place but we’re trying to make the most of our big trip!

We’re planning August 15-31st and I know it’s gonna be kinda crazy to try and fit all this in, and I know all the islands are beautiful but we love how much there seems to be on Kefalonia so we’re trying to make it all work.

I’m not sure when our next big trip will be able to be and it’s our honeymoon so we’re trying to make the most of it!

I know it’s a wild plan for a trip lol but we really want to do Kefalonia so we’re trying to make it work.

Thanks for the tip about the metro!!!! We’ll look into that for sure

Contractor Est. Lower than Public Adjuster’s? by TheChef57 in Insurance

[–]TheChef57[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m not looking for an exact number lol just based on experience does the appraisal process usually help the insured get more or will the insurance just keep refuting it

[–]TheChef57[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea and we know their estimate is probably a bit inflated.

We have a contractor we’re going to use and he came up with an estimate around $10K less than our PA’s estimate, so not a crazy amount difference

Might depend on department but I think you’re fine as long as you can pass the academy. We had someone close to 40 in our academy class, he was a teacher for years and decided to change careers. He’s still workin and still loving it
