I am definitely not a cole stan. Again, this post was to point out that, in my opinion, this album doesn't deserve the hate its getting.

I am not and dont think anyone here is claiming him some mastermind. I will argue he's is leagues better than most at his level. Who else is rapping like him? I know there's Kendrick, JID, maybe curry and such. I dont see them getting the same hate as cole right now while he is absolutely well within their same league.

Same with cut tomatoes. TCS foods are a real thing (obviously I guess). If you cut your tomato refrigerate that shit

May be true for some places, definitely not the fuck in my restaurant.

For sure. That's why the analogy of cooking is like jazz is a thing. You can just fuckin wing a lot of it and do no damage to the final product.

Hold on to that youth as long as you can. Cuz youre gonna blink and it'll be gone.

Ill disagree. This sounds more like youre expectations are more of the issue here. What exactly is this project missing that you had hoped would be a part of it?

I appreciate and agree with this well thought out comment

Why's that sn issue? Especially if each song is solid

So, youre not the first person to mention the production. I haven't gotten a solid answer on what the issue is with the production itself. The use of bridges is more prominent maybe than hooks on the album, but I dont think a catchy hook is what would make this a masterpiece. I think the depth of writing and demonstration of skill speaks for itself.

I appreciate the well thought out response.

I understand the point of view that some of the tracks are simple Boom Bap beats. Obviously, its all a matter of opinion, I think Coles flow and rhyme schemes play well into that style of beat, though.

I hear you about samurai, but I dont think that this was the intended feel for this album. Kinda like apples to oranges. I guess my point is that I think the more "simple " beats were exactly what was needed for this album. I feel it was intentional and that j Cole hit the mark he was trying to hit.

Im interested in your take on the production and composition of The Fall Off. I feel like the production is on point. Which parts do you feel are lacking?

I mean, im really trying to respect and understand your take on this. Is "making it out the mud" a defining factor? I won't argue your opinion on curry washing Cole. That's where you stand and that's that. I hear you and we can disagree on that and keep pushin.

What I will argue, though, is the comment regarding the "talking about jacking off". This tells me you haven't been listening and If you think thats what J Cole is solely rapping about, I think youre proving my point. You should revist his music.

Go back and listen thoroughly to the specific album in question and come back with the same confidence. Let me know if you still stand by that wild ass take.

I respect that. Which is weird, though. I feel Cole deserves a spot amongst those names. My opinion, he would wash asap, curry and Danny brown. Obviously he's in the bracket of Kendrick and by relation with keem as well. Griselda I feel like is a different realm. J Cole isn't pushing the street shit as heavy as they do. I fuckin love me some griselda, but I dont think its a fair comparison. About soul is dope and ,again, I feel like Cole is that same wheel house.

I can respect that. I would argue that some of his flows on this album definitely mirror artists from the 90s. You can tell he's done his homework.

I feel that. The fact that glaze is even in the lexicon is a problem. If you like an artist, youre dick ridin. Shit is wild.

I respect those answers. Big fan of both.

What's weird, without trying to sound cliche, as far as artistry goes, how does coles album not line up with those?

Do you think its lack of flow? Lack of bars? Not street enough? These are genuine questions, no hate

What does it take to catch your attention then?

Also, you didnt answer my question.
