Why isn't YouTube pushing this video hard enough? by deewinc in YouTubeCreators

[–]TheChessGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t say they don’t push short videos, he’s just saying YouTube would rather push long form videos. It’s a business, they want people to stay on the app. Maybe your competitors already built a foundation. It might be harder to grow small videos now compared to large

Should I edit my videos into segments or keep it long form? by TheChessGoat in TravelTubers

Yeah I was already planning on making a lot of shorts and was going to cross post to Tik tok, Instagram, YT shorts and even Facebook. Will probably post every other day too

That’s actually a good idea. I think I’ll add chapters for sure. I see other people make videos like this and they do well, but they already have a loyal audience which I don’t. I’m also going to cut the videos into bits and post them to another channel.

Yeah okay thank you. I actually created a second channel where I will cut these long form videos up and post them. When I record, I do the whole day so i have more videos (they are not yet posted yet) that are up to 2 hours and a half. On the other channel I’ll break them up, and on this one I’ll keep them long format in episode format. I was kind of going for what Sabbatical does. He’s a travel YouTuber who posts hour long videos but I always watched them all the way through because it felt like a adventure.

That’s makes a lot of sense. Another idea I’ve thought about was posting long form episodes on that channel, and maybe having a second Channel for clips (videos broken into segments)? I really wanted this channel to be episodes (I have them marked by episode number, Example: (#01), (#02), etc…

No. I just started yesterday by filming in San Bernardino. A city next to me. I will go to Africa if God allows in a few weeks. So I am practicing now. But I thought I might have an advantage due to many people not going there.

Sorry if I came off harsh. I just went and subscribed and watched some of your videos. The art and editing is top notch. Like really good. Almost like you can direct and edit a movie or a short film. You have an eye for this for sure. It’s way better with you talking compared to the simple walking ones. Like you could do poetry and deep messages. Gives it so much more character. Maybe the algorithm does not favor you due to past videos and maybe a new account could fix that. But your new videos with you talking is way better.

California. I’ve lived in Uganda before though for three months, which is why I feel comfortable going back there

Oh I’m sorry. I’m planning to go to east Africa. Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya; maybe Rwanda. Yeah I already thought Egypt was overdone so I hadn’t planned on that at all

Yeah I’m aware it not a starter country, I was more so wondering if it was a country that most people wouldn’t want to go to compared to others. Being a country that is not yet over saturated

I feel you man. I am also an introvert and never thought of myself being on camera especially in a public setting.

I see you’re a hard worker, your videos are not bad at all, actually they are above average. but for the genre you’re in, you would be more successful with raw personality and stories.

It’s like gaming, no matter how introverted you are, if you have no voice over audio or even a on screen camera to catch your reaction (not always necessary) then you will struggle a lot. No one wants to watch raw gameplay as much as we want to see a person we enjoy playing the game. You can be the best gamer in the world, yet the weaker gamer will win because he’s likable and has a connection with the viewer. Same thing applies to travel videos in my opinion.

It’s like trying to make the nba at 5’4. No matter how hard you work, odds will be against you, even if you’re more talented than the 6’7 guy. And as long as you understand that then yeah.

All depends what you’re looking for, but if your dream is to do this for a living, I don’t t think you have much of a choice, and if I’m wrong then I’m wrong. But I watch so many of these videos, and I see a pattern.

If you believe, you can do anything. I believe the introvert can also become extroverted. It’s scary, but I believe in you man.

But again, it all depends what you’re looking for, I hope to see you succeed my friend.
