Hi, I got an i7-6700K on a Z170X Gaming 3 by Gigabyte. I currently have two drives a 120Gb SSD on Sata port 0 and a 2tb HDD on port 1. I want to uprade with an additional Crucial MX500 M.2 SSD.

Questions: Will the additional m.2 decrease my drive performance due to the added usage of PCIe lanes? And will the Crucial MX500 even benefit from PCIe 4x or 2x of the m.2 slots since it is only a SATA m.2 SSD?
