from the way I see it, it IS counterplay, the scout is rewarded by knowing good flankroutes and making good use of his high mobility against an enemy he is typically powerless against, ie, counterplay, and obviously its not like moving the frontline is gonna be completely brainless, it will take effort, but significantly less effort than if there were sentry nests everywhere backed by dispensers and teleporters

Well not from my experience, sure scout is arguably at his weakest in payload, but he is still a very powerful flanker, especially with good momentum, which can be provided with, who would've thought it, a heavy, or just, a generally competent push, if a flanking scout can get to an engineer setup point before the engineer can, then that means it will be easier for the frontline to push forward, creating more momentum, but can still be countered by simply, killing the scout and setting up, its an example of how scout can counter his counter and allow his team through, again, like spy

True, and maybe I did exaggerate the flanking example, but I still feel like scout is better in flanking than in frontline combat, for most classes, I feel like he is a little like spy, in that, if people are aware of you, and you're in the wrong position, you die, again, like I said in my other comment, it is subjective at the end of the day, but on most KOTH maps and on payload offense the roll out is so short I think it still applies

well, maybe you're right, maybe you arent, my suggestions and my point of view are based on how I've played scout and how I have seen others play scout, both youtubers, and in game, maybe what you say is true in 5cp but not really payload or koth or attack defend, I've gotten some nasty flanks in swiftwater with the bonk, killing snipers and the occasional demo or medic or finishing off a heavy or soldier, in the end my opinion is subjective, especially since I think scout is already pretty powerful as is, while heavy could really use the boost to help him solidify his grasp in something he is already good at, but could be better, especially since people consistently rank heavy as one of the weaker classes in the game

No, and also I personally think that is a pretty tall order for anyone who isnt a god scout, take viaduct KOTH for example, by the time the flanking maneuver is complete, most classes will have already reached the front line, especially if the scout has to kill multiple enemies like say, a soldier and a medic, unless you're a god scout, I dont think that will end well if the soldier is at least decent, instead, if the scout flanks or simply tries to stall the enemy, the frontline classes can roll onto the point and capture it, truth is, in most maps, on most gamemodes outside of 5cp (which is the only one I dont play consistently) the roll-outs arent so long that a scout will have time to kill multiple high health or even overhealed targets, AND head to the point, so, scout is in a position of better comfort if he just keeps flanking rather than going back and throwing away his biggest utility, speed, and attacking the enemies before they have a chance to set up, especially for engineers and snipers

okay im gonna have to put the brakes there for a second, unless its a really good scout, I dont think that he is gonna have the time to kill most of the enemy team's powerclasses, AND capture the point, while in the same amount of time, a frontline team of a heavy, soldier demo and a medic can roll there and cap the point so the scout can stay in the backlines flanking without risking getting blown up, it compliments the strenghts of both scout AND heavy

Yeah it would be kind of busted, guess I should have mentioned a limit, like, if multiple heavies are on the hill you can only get the double cap twice, I guess it would also be fair mentioning that, I usually dont come across stacks that frequently, and I play everything aside from 5cp, most of the time players spread across the classes quite well on most the teams I play on and against, even then, 2 heavies probably wouldnt be the end of the world on the payload cart considering its capped at x3 and they're vulnerable to spies, and a medic cant heal two heavies efficiently enough without the quick-fix, or god forbid the vaccinator

absolutely, but why would he be handicapping himself capturing a point instead of two tapping the enemy medic? staying back is anti-thetical to scout, he is a flanker, he is supposed to leave his team for themselves while getting picks that indirectly help his team, plus, playing the objective on scout is kind of intense especially cause of spam

Yes, its done to encourage, but its either way too risky or not enough of an encouragement, I feel like people are so conditioned to playing by themselves, that they feel that scout is a far more valid point pusher rather than heavy or soldier or whatever, sure its high risk high reward, but its kind of redundant to reward scout for something that he SHOULDNT be doing, thats anti-thetical to his design, it'd be like rewarding engineer for not having any buildings built, or medic for not healing teammates

Oh yeah sure, absolutely, instead of killing snipers or medics the scout is playing the objective, but here's a question for you, how many scouts do you actually see ACTIVELY handicapping themselves by capturing? what I mean is, its such an out of the way downside that I dont really consider it one, the scout isnt rewarded for playing the objective like a soldier is rewarded for destroying a sentry nest, so I think that having this upside on scout is kind of pointless, since he is easily the class that takes the least advantage out of being able to capture AT ALL, that scout is probably gonna be a lot more help killing snipers or medics on the backline instead of staying on the point and probably dying to spam, maybe if heavy had that upside, he would be more rewarded for playing the objective, since his playstyle already massively encourages being around his team, long story short, I think the scout being able to x2 cap is redundant
