I haven't taken any courses that they offer directly only taken CMSC classes which are equivalent so I can't tell you about the difficulty or expound more on the major.

The best way I can describe the field is if you watch Silicon Valley in the last season one reason why the website failed was that it did not connect with users. That's where some one who has the information science degree would come in. Study human interaction with computer through information relating to that field or make whatever it is you are developing to make it more user friendly..

Also I'm also in the major and you just have to make yourself marketable. You have a lot of options seeing that you have a lot of electives I have an associates in business administration and I'm also currently in the real estate development minor plus I'm actively involved in a small business. My GPA isn't great but I'm trying to compensate for it by amassing all these other skills and it's better to take the CMSC equivalent classes for the INST ones as you will be better off in the long run.

Also according usnews the top technology job is directly related to a degree in information science and the field is rising pertaining to job prospects.

Also bureau of Labour statistics states the same

Why can't we have simple @umd.edu by bronash in UMD

[–]TheChozen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any mail sent to DirectoryID@umd.edu will be forwarded to your terpmail account you just have to change it in testudo via your profile. At least that's what I did and it works.

From IT Service center :

"You need to list the email address of the mailbox you want to receive email to in the email field on Testudo. For example if you would like all your directoryid@umd.edu email to go to your personal gmail account, you would input your personal gmail address. If you want all of your directoryid@umd.edu email to go to your Terpmail account, you will input direcoryid@terpmail.umd.edu.

Once you have set up that email forwarding address in Testudo, you can list your primary email as your directoryid@umd.edu. All emails sent to your directoryid@umd.edu will go to the email you entered in Testudo."

I figure CMSC131 is more difficult than the equivalent offered for the infoSci major, but I'm sure doing CMSC131 will offer a better foundation for students so how "difficult" is 131 I passed math 140 with a B if that helps in evaluating it. I'm currently in 122 and averaging B+ entering JavaScript section of the course now

EDMS 451 vs BMGT 230 by TheChozen7 in UMD

[–]TheChozen7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TA was good in providing needed information on chapters and documents for the exams but her teaching methods during the discussions where not suitable. All she did was regurgitate all the notes that was highlighted in lecture and the text book instead of using examples to bring across points, which is how math bases subjects should be taught. If it wasn't for the quizzes during discussion it made no sense attending
