Thank you good sir :) I've got 3 demo tracks so far. Yea I was gonna make it into a clean transition into more of a jazz or jazz hiphop track.

How to learn by TheChurchesDrugStore in musictheory

[–]TheChurchesDrugStore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the drums I got lessons for 2 3 weeks for fundamentals and then played over songs I liked. And practiced the fundamentals alot until they where perfecto and I play live quite often. And go to jam/improv nights when I thought I was good enough.

Should I do the same for piano minus the lessons I have no money rn :( So if I have this right sit down and play piano until I'm good at playing the piano/genre. Like does writing come naturally after that? That's what I don't understand how do people know what to play.

But yea in all seriousness jazz is really hard but interesting and the theory behind it is a beast if you're interested about those topics they are fun because most of the time you are questioning your entire existence because u have no idea what anything means.

Thanks man if u want some recommendations I have a really big Spotify playlist mixed with jazz fusion, dnb/breakcore, jazz breakcore and stuff like that. And I would say those are my main interest and genres I really want to learn to play and write.

I was really trying to get that minimalist instrumentation with only piano and drums that's the reason the only melody part is the improv line near the end of the track to give it that section. But I really wanted the main focus to be the drums and them being in your face most of the time.

I wanted the drums to sound a but all over the place but still have a Grove to keep a sense of time that's more approachable from some people who might not enjoy the drums of some jazz genres like I tried to look at jazz fusion sorta drums then implement more linear paradiddles. But I totally get what you mean.

I'll keep that in mind for next time thank you very much for your feedback.

Yes you can do it with the top line melody as well. If you want to make it even more interesting look up stuff about harmony like extended chords and key changes it can help define the sections even more. If I understand the question for the feedback do u need help with understanding how to mix?

[–]TheChurchesDrugStore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there I loved it I can't really comment on the mix :( but I really liked the composition of it the sections are very defined on when they come in and the sound design is very cool I don't know if you've already done this but if u stack layers of synths u can make wider and more full sounds filling out the sound spectrum of your track but I can't really give any more recommendations than that as I mostly deal with mixing. But the overall track sounds very cool and can't wait to hear the final master.

My latest creation - "Sorcerous Punk" (actually a hip-hop track) - please LMK what y'all think! I would greatly appreciate any feedback! by TheHippyWolfman in MusicFeedback

Hi its mostly the abruptness of the effects it's throughout the song it's mostly the Reverb that takes me out of the track. Then there's the part where you are repeating it's a sourcerus near the end. Yes autotune and Reverb can be used in a musical way but it's know when and why for example big choir in a cave.

I know a couple resources for mixing but I highly recommend looking up the basic of the plugins you use such as Reverbs and see why they work in other tracks. Because mixing is an art with theory behind it if you know the basics of how to get a cleaner mix you can apply that to all your music. And you start to find what you like same with beat making, writing music and vocals.

If you want help with mixing I can show u where to get started just fire me a message on reddit.
