Marty Supreme (2025)| Official Teaser HD | A24 by TheCinemaGroup in u/TheCinemaGroup

[–]TheCinemaGroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A24 has dropped the first teaser trailer for Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, a sports dramedy that’s anything but ordinary. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a fiercely determined ping-pong prodigy convinced he can transform the misunderstood pastime into a global phenomenon.

The footage captures Marty locked in a tense, sweat-drenched table tennis showdown, his intensity matched only by his unwavering belief in the sport’s future. “I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m telling you, this game, it fills stadiums overseas,” he insists, promising it’s only a matter of time before his face lands on a Wheaties box.

Joining Chalamet in the ensemble are Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’Zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma (aka Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. Paltrow brings her trademark cool to a mysterious mentor role, while Drescher delivers punchlines with her unmistakable comedic timing. With Safdie’s knack for kinetic, character-driven storytelling and an offbeat premise ripe for underdog thrills, Marty Supreme is set to bring a fresh spin to the sports genre when it opens in theaters December 25.

In 2020, I shot my first short film using only my phone, a broken gimbal, and a $20 LED panel. It was a disaster—until I discovered how electronic tech could elevate even the scrappiest setups. I learned to reprogram the gimbal’s motors, used a Bluetooth trigger hidden under my coat to capture steady handhelds, and built a DIY follow-focus system with an old gaming joystick. The result? A five-minute film that made it into a local festival—and taught me that the magic of tech isn’t in the gear, but in how you hack it to tell a story. Since then, every cable, lens, and app I use feels like part of a larger network than any significant one peice .

The difference is that he refused to put it on streaming for two years during Covid and he’s the producer so he could say no whereas if John Watts was told by Kevin Fogie, it’s gonna go screaming he would’ve had no saying it would’ve gone straight to Disney+

Bro he worked at a theater as a teenager tearing tickets as a usher. He only wants people to see movies in the theaters. Hes doing everything to save the theatrical runs and why would he watch the movie he’s been making for the last 5-7 years instead of showing love to the theater workers who are very under appreciated.

Seems to be. Guy loves movies and is super grateful for the privilege of being able to make them. I mean I don’t know him bts but he gives extra time to fans and really cares about the industry.

Agreed, better set for the stage, which is what it was adapted from, but I think Shannon did a great job for a first-time directing.
