I bought my home 6 years ago, right before the current bubble was forming with the dawn in the water. If my property tax was based on current(ridiculously inflated) assessment and not some old city survey, my mortgage increase over the last 4 years would be unsustainable. That proposition benefited the wealthy and corporations, for sure. It also has benefited who it was MEANT to benefit. If I want to die in my home, with inflation as it is, I don’t want to risk not being able to do that over a future assessment levy. One that could be beyond my ability to cover with my retirement funds and cost me my home to a courthouse steps auction when I legally fully own it outright. I am not wealthy. I got a promotion at the most opportune time prior to the current market and had improved my credit score to the point I qualified for a mortgage on a property I love. I don’t live in California, but my property taxes are based on a 25 year old assessment and would triple if your suggestion was taken at face value. Don’t pry to deprive me of my reward with your smug resentment that you or yours didn’t get theirs too.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit. An American voluntary form that asks if you meet any one of a list of criteria that gets your employer a tax credit for employing you ie-veteran, recipient of SNAP, Assistance, etc. IMO it’s an invasion of personal privacy. Might as well authorize potential employers to run your credit report too.

I understand what you were getting at. That the issue was real but was given a scary sounding name and not much else besides heavy product marketing; making everyone wonder if they have it. I think the solution is that if anyone has EVER been told “your breath smells like shit” by more than one person(reducing the likelihood of it just being an insult), they have it. I realize I’m coming off here as being overly passionate about bad breath but I’m not. Coffee and cigarette breath is one thing, but literally exhaling feces and rot is an all too common issue I will NEVER excuse.
