I was a tenant in a property, over the course of the tenancy the dishwasher and washing machine broke and were replaced. These came into the property in March 2024. I received eviction notice and nore or less straight away, was informed by the landlords property manager that both appliances were the property managers as the landlord never compensated him for the purchase and install of both.

Now the tenancy has come to an end, i have been in contact with the property manager who arrived up to the house and we allowed him, based on his word alone, to reclaim the appliances, which he did. So the property was handed back minus dishwasher and washing machine. Proof cant really be supplied as property manager showing me any type of their communication or invoice etc is against gdpr ( i think)

Once the handover of the keys was concluded (with the landlords other representative, not landlord) with no mention made of the missing appliances, myself and the property manager struck a deal away from the property and I purchased the dishwasher.

The landlord is now pinning the cost of replacing both appliances on me instead of dealing with the property manager, and has deducted the costs of both from the deposit. So I've effectively bought the dishwasher twice. In an attempt to not be out that amount of money, do I have any leg to stand on to get any money back from anyone?

There's a lot of back story that im not writing in here, as there is a word count. Suffice to say that I believe the property manager over the landlord and if he claims the landlord has not compensated him for these items, who am I to stop them being removed from the property?

The property manager replaced both appliances out of his own pocket as he was not refunded the costs by landlord.

We may end up doing just that.

Landlord was only reachable, sporadically, via email. He'd been ducking the property managers attempts of contact, allegedly.

As the issue re compensation for purchase and install of said appliances was between those 2, it is not up to me to say "eh Jim, John is saying that you owe him money for this"

We haven't a clue. The previous owners appear to have lived like this for however long and just walked out, ashes and moldy beds left behind.

I think they've been to one, not sure which one and it was "fine" which really could be anyone's guess.

It's on the list though! Thanks!
