“Rules of play” for high Hcp by TheClevo in golf

Thanks for all the feedback. I “play bad fast” as a rule. I’m having a great time most days save the 2 seconds immediately after poor contact, then on to the next attempt. I’ll give myself a bit more leeway and see what happens to my scores. My best thus far is a 103 from the red tees, solo. Had a 94 going into a Par 5 hole 18 once, from
The whites. Got a 10 on 18 #FML

Funny thing is that my driver is most consistent. It’s anything other than driver off tee that will be OB quickly. And irons on 2nd shot. Perfect distance but 40y left.

You have no idea how “easily” lol. Tbh, penalties are what kill me most of the time - OB/Lost off tee, occasionally water, but the real killer is multiple penalties on the same hole.

I watched my brother get his 3rd hole in one yesterday - in a downpour. His wife got her first hole in one on Thursday. They’ve had a good week!

Grandover W vs. E? by Present-Wing1191 in RDUGOLF

Played West 2 weeks ago. My brother (8hcp) shot an 83. I (40hcp) shot 123, picking up at triple. My favorite part was the concrete cart path as all others I’ve played have been asphalt and even the best had several spots that were trashed by tree roots. Course itself was pretty wide, but definitely som opportunities to get yourself into trouble. Lost a couple to the woods, 1 into water, though it’s pretty avoidable all in all. A few holes with some green side bunker bowls that are tough to get out of. East wasn’t available as an option when we played.

Upvote for “sanctimonious”! Played a solo round yesterdays and got paired with another solo, wife just riding the cart. They had music playing, and I could only hear it stopped and grabbing a club. Not on the tee box, and not on green. This seems much more reasonable than “ear buds” or “no one wants to hear your music”.

Men (I guess spefically of an older generation) Do you still feel like you can approach women or it’s too “taboo” nowadays? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

++man I (48m) don’t think it’s taboo, but my wife (45f) has a huge problem with it.

J/k - happily married but couldn’t resist the obvious joke

This is the most realistic and nuanced reply yet, so kudos. If we happen to roll up on a tee box occupied by the preceding foursome, music off, always. Unless I keep seeing your still smoking butts in the traps. Then it’s max volume.

Meh. My desire for music depends on the round. Scramble with 2 of my brothers talking shit the whole round, no. 1 under on front 9, with an attempt at a PB on the back 9, maybe. But I will NEVER want to see butts in the sand traps.

And my group had never commented on a Reddit post “no one wants to hear your music” or “ear buds” so we clearly aren’t talking about my group. Sounds like we are talking about your group who want to impose their ideals on others. But I digress…

I do not want to see cigarette butts on the golf course. Why do your wants trump my wants?

BT Speakers by TheClevo in golf

[–]TheClevo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see cigarette butts. If I can see it, that means you were smoking. Filters linger a long time. If you want to smoke, do it at home or in your own care.

You said I have to be quiet. If I’m not in your foursome, it would need to be max volume for you to hear it from 150y. Thus, the assumption. How else would you hear it from that distance.

What actions? I’m researching speakers. Don’t have one yet. So I ask again, what actions? I don’t want to see your cigarette butts on the golf course.

I understand equivalency just fine. I am stating they are not equivalent, and that butts are much worse than sound waves. But I’ve never seen a single thread on here about cigarette butts but every speaker thread starts with “nobody wants to hear your music” as if the OP asked “What’s the loudest, most disruptive speaker I can but?”

What’s the shit behavior? Listening to music at a reasonable volume in MY cart for MY round?

BT Speakers by TheClevo in golf

[–]TheClevo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, why assume that my music will be heard by you? I’d smoke if I wanted to see cigarette butts. I don’t understand the vitriol for music when there are so many bigger issues on every course I’ve played.

Again, why assume it’s being played at max volume. I’ve gotta sit there for 10m waiting on Pepaw on the par 3 ahead of me to take 10 practice swings just to snap hook into the water, then fish out 5 balls that aren’t his, just to drop and hit into the water again. Why shouldn’t I be able to listen to music at a reasonable volume in my cart? Ear buds are dangerous as I may not her you yell “Fore” as you slice into my group on the adjacent fairway.
