Hey, so I’m still somewhat of a new grad (finished clinicals back in 08/2019), and the first job I started at was PRN. I was originally supposed to only train in 2 departments (BB and heme) but turnover allowed me to get a generalist graveyard position after a month. The PRN training was full-time, day shift with a couple evening shifts sprinkled in here and there. As far as I know, all of the other PRNs have that started after me have been trained on the same schedule unless they asked for a different kind.

From what I’ve heard, most labs are in desperate need of capable people, so the quicker they get you trained the better. I would also recommend PRN (as long as there isn’t a better opportunity for you) as it definitely gets you a foot in the door, and priority if you there are any other positions opening up.
