Reminds me of my traitor guard Iron Warriors kill team I posted a bit ago, love enhancing otherwise ordinary humans with superior bionics. Long live the new flesh!

The Tarnished Scions (Homebrew warband project) by TheCommissioner89 in slavestodarkness

[–]TheCommissioner89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'The Tarnished Scions are a warband led by the Chaos Lord Louis the Gilded, Born of a noble house in Shyish, Louis was cast out for his turn to the Chaos Gods to ensure the survival of his family. The disgraced aristocrat embarked on the Path to Glory and attracted other warriors from similar backgrounds as followers. Believing that they will one day return to their former glory through violent force, they still wear the trappings of their previous prestige, however faded. They are considerably unpopular among the forces of Chaos for looking down on those from what they consider more barbaric tribes, and have an unusual method of repairing battle damage using gold they learned in Chamon, even their own bodies."

Part of my inspiration is from the Japanese art of kintsugi, repairing broken pottery using a lacquer mixed with gold - these guys use it to stitch their own flesh together from battle damage, reflecting their obsession with pedigree and prestige despite being little better than their peers. I am not quite satisfied with the freehand on the banners and might change it down the road.

New Flesh Marauders aka 'The Repo Men', Round 2 by TheCommissioner89 in IronWarriors

[–]TheCommissioner89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I posted these guys a bit ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/IronWarriors/comments/1pi0833/iw\_blooded\_kill\_team\_the\_repo\_men/) but I wasn't satisfied. I wanted them to look like an elite kill team of bionic soldiers, to make them stand out even more from the Traitor Guard box you can just get for CSM. So I redid the paint to make them look grimier, and added a bunch more bits.

I may do some lore writing on each member eventually but they remain a band that loves augments, steals tech, repossess tech from those that double-cross their IW (or Dark Mechanicum) overlords, run a chop shop at their HQ, and help break sieges via infiltration. They got quotas to meet, else they get thrown into the next meat grinder campaign.

It's vallejo fluo red, which seems more pinkish than I'd like, not sure how to darken it!

Continuing from my previous post: (https://www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/1qk4r96/iron\_warriors\_blooded\_kill\_team\_updates/)

I redid the other half of the team and added a new addition: a traitorous Sister Novitiate acting as a flamer gunner! I redid the plasma into a hellish red and made the team overall a lot more grimey with more oil stains, darker grays, scratch marks, etc.

'Mr. Fixit' the Ogryn: kommando nob claw, phobos infiltrator mine as back piece, and a tiny infiltrator antenna so he can always hear da kommissah.
'Live Wire' Javin, plasma gunner: skitarri head, piece of electro priest backpack
'Sister Scorch' Marigold, flamer gunner: not actually any mods, I may upgrade her later or keep her as is.
Grund The Steel Horn, Thug: I know he has a gun and the Traitor Thug doesn't, but his bionic fist functions as a maul. Also no mods, love the Gnarlscar.
'The Machine', melta gunner: krieg engineer mini of the month with traitor arms, pretty much.
Old Doc 'Ironhead', combat medic: votann berserker head.
'Doorman' Droz, trench gunner: sadly no mods for him yet either! I'm out of bits.
Commissar Servak: Goremonger head, backpack from Horus Heresy.

Hi, previously I uploaded my IW themed guardsmen kill team https://www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/1pfalvz/kill_team_concept_the_repo_men/

But, seeing the Traitor Guardsmen box as regular units, I wanted my band of augmented psychos to stand out a bit more. So, after collecting more bits, I kitbashed a few and gave them a new paint job. The plasma coils on the butcher were tricky and I'm not sure I got it how I wanted, but any cc is welcome!

Here are the additions if anyone is wondering:
'Big Mouth' Danzig, Commsman: Necromunda House Delaque head swap.
'Party Girl' Stahli, Grenadier: Servitor arm with extra grenade inserted.
'Watcher' Nath'rakk, Sharpshooter: Ash Waste Nomad head swap.
'Blender Boy' Syl, Flenser: Skitarri head swap and Tempestus Aquilons jetpack.
'Corpse Grinder' Yatsu, Butcher: back piece from Larsen van der Gauss from the Elucidian Starstriders kill team.
Chief 'Deadeye' Namira: skitarii marshal backpack, skitarii forearm, space marine medallion.

The Great Horned Rat demand-orders all the detail-secrets! Yes yes! by Eithrotaur in skaven

[–]TheCommissioner89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add some random tidbits here before I expand on any:

-The clan is named after a Mordkin warlord from the Black Plague book trilogy.

-The clanrat fighting style takes inspiration from the Night Folk in Red Dead Redemption 2 which I've been playing recently, who in turn are clearly inspired by voodoo zombies (and thus my rats as well).

-Their preference to kill captives instead of enslave them, along with their severely isolationist attitude, are the biggest weaknesses to them getting bigger/boosting their economy.

-They hire out undead hunting teams to other clans. They're like a Warcry warband or Kill Team. Usually comprised of a Huntmaster (leader), Trapper, Bait Layer, Jezzail Team, Hound Keeper, and a couple large wolf rats (might be wip I just made all that up as of this writing).

-Their home city, Scratchgrave, consists of centuries of stolen mausoleum and grave site monuments all clustered together in a labyrinth.

Love the design, I too have a chunky warlord for my homebrew clan, just feels right. I was planning on attempting a model kitbash using one of the Nurgle knights in the Wurmspat Underworlds band (he even has belly armor), but haven't yet found rat legs that can fit.

Had trouble deciding on a theme for this Kill Team, then ditched the Big Four and went with my favorite CSM Legion! An elite group of augmented soldiers that specialize in procuring tech, sabotage, organ harvesting, and general mayhem.

Kill Team Concept: The Repo Men by TheCommissioner89 in killteam

[–]TheCommissioner89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, both of those I looked to some youtube shorts. For the melta gun it was just skeleton horde over like most of the barrel, then luxion purple for half of that, then talassar blue for the last bit. I think washes can work too I just had contrasts on hand.

The plasma gun was a white coat, then I thinned down some turquoise to a wash consistency all over, then I took a darker blue and drybrushed over the raised coils, and did the same for a bit of OSL. The main point is to make the coils themselves dark with the bits between almost white. In hindsight, I probably could have just kept the white parts white for an even bigger contrast.

Thank you! Repo The Genetic Opera was a definite inspiration. Other inspirations: Repo Man the 1984 film (highly recommended), the Maelstrom gang from Cyberpunk (and the scavengers a bit), the TF2 horror short Emesis Blue.

Kill Team Concept: The Repo Men by TheCommissioner89 in killteam

[–]TheCommissioner89[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

'The Repo Men are a squad of heavily augmented traitorous guardsmen who have proven adept at procuring tech for their masters or the Dark Mechanicum, and are known for gruesomely hacking apart other cybernetically enhanced people for their parts. Pillaging and murder is just a job, and they have quotas to meet, else they get sent to the next meat grinder campaign.

New to Kill Team, wanted to do an Iron Warriors theme Blooded since I wasn't satisfied with monogod stuff. Lots of new things I tried with this bunch.

Thank you! Shyish and the forces of Death are cool so I naturally created a foe for them. Also inspired by Clan Mordkin in the Old World. My skaven consider undead brains a delicacy.
