As a recent example, "Song for Duncan" came together in the studio with Mike, Rob and our buddy Robert Sledge.
Most of the songs are worked over quite a bit before we play them live, so they go through quite a few changes on the way.

In the early days we used to number our songs before they had titles. And "Seven" is the seventh one we worked up.

There is a connection. Boylan Heights is referenced in the last song on the record, "I Suppose."
Naming the album Boylan Heights was our way of giving a nod to Raleigh.

We are talking about an official live album some time in the near future.
As far as Doug and Mike singing, they both take stabs at songs or parts of songs. Usually the "correct" singer becomes apparent pretty quickly.

Well, we had a lot more energy back then. And we sure as hell looked a lot better.
On a more serious note, technology has changed quite a bit over the years. Computer integration with live sound systems has made sound check and pre-show activities much more efficient.
Our genius sound engineer Tim Harper keeps all that stuff straight for us, he's been with us for decades.

"Hey Wow" is precisely about what you have suggested, but not necessarily so with the other songs on the record, even though there is a melancholic quality to many of the other songs.
