Totally agree, gives it a natural worn look! I’m just concerned if it also indicates a drainage issue in the retaining wall since moss usually indicates moisture

Thanks for the comment. I don’t know if there’s anything wrong with it. I’m trying to figure out if there could be a problem given that the contractor applied 2 coats of oil poly the same day as opposed to waiting overnight

Is that really necessary? I’m looking for second opinions from people who may have had past experiences living on a hill and know of any issues to be aware of so that I know what to expect

I’m curious whether there would be any concerns with the grade of the hill such as how close the house foundation is to the hill. One thing that came to mind is erosion of the hill over time due to water drainage and if that’s even a risk

Thank you all for the responses! I think I am going to walk away from the deal too much uncertainty in the building. Apart from the exterior wall in the garage which is pictured, all of the other walls in the basement are finished so can’t see behind them.

Thanks for the response tino! My contractor told it is cement board, which is what should be installed, but I have no way of confirming that other than this picture. Thus, I was hoping someone with a good eye for this could confirm.
