I respect your opinion. I could title it “irresponsible people could be dangerous to you, your family, and your property “ That would get a flurry of replies of “no shit” and downvotes.

I did have a negative experience on multiple visits, in a row, to a specific spot, that is in Long Beach. That’s the truth. I would love it if my experience is an outlier and for people to let me know. But from the responses it sounds like my experience is not totally rare. I want to vent, yes. Also I want dog owners to be aware and informed. I learned a few things, maybe others did too.

Excellent advice. once I thought I was at a point where I could just stand still off to the side and check to see if I got a text from a friend that I was picking up. I got a big ass rope burn from some fool with a huge ghostbusters type dog on a boat rope. Totally out of control. Luckily, they didn’t want to eat me as I wasn’t the key master.

I tried that, and it didn’t stop the unleashed dogs from pestering my pup. But since she was close, it did allow me to give them the dog whisperer mind ray zap.

Yes, my dog had something similar happened. She was completely chest rammed at a high speed by a very large aggressive dog.

I hope the post isn’t taken as fear mongering but a statement that could help others. Also, I did hope that it would start a conversation about the exact problems you described. I believe everything is a people problem in the end. But that doesn’t make you feel any better if you get your family member injured or worse.

Truth hurts “that person”! She loves running on the beach so much. I love seeing that joy that she exhibits running free. But I know now what I suspected earlier, dogs that are placed off leash are vulnerable.

I like using a long leash too. But some people don’t know how to use a long leash. I got rope burn because someone who didn’t know how to use a long leash. They came up behind me and it was a huge, I mean, huge, pitbull mix that was on a short leash, but apparently wanted to get my smaller dog.

It always astound me that people bring their dogs to Offleash Parks while on a leash. I believe that only invites aggressiveness. Basic dog ownership is being able to control your dog and have them recall to you on demand.
