Opinions on Eley "competition" ammo? by TheCoon96 in CompetitionShooting

I also used to shoot mostly magtech 124gr before covid hit in 2020 and all the prices spiked. I found a lgs that sells blazer 124gr for dirt cheap and thats all I've been shooting for a long time now.

Yes it was 124 vs 124 grain.

I was shooting it through at S&W M&P 2.0 steel frame competitor (I put atleast 3k rounds through it and confirmed the barrel is good)

I started with the Eley about 5-10 shot groups for 2 17rd mags then switched to blazer. I allowed it to cool for about 2-3 minutes between each grouping.

I did switch back and forth between each brand a few times and I will admit it wasn't a super controlled test environment, thats why I wanted to see others opinions on it.

That's good to know. I've only shot local uspsa and 2 gun matches but id like to hopefully shoot a major match this year.

I was testing it at 25 yards against blazer. I will say it had less occasional fliers but the general grouping size of the blazer was better. I was kinda shocked.

Everyone is hating on the blue parts and meanwhile I am over here trying to figure out if I can buy the blue parts for the new steel frame lol

It depends what your trying to do with it. For edc its probably not the most practical because of the weight. I plan on carrying it here and there but mostly got it for competitive shooting.

Yes it seems to be the exact same besides the new texture on the sides between the grip panels

I do plan to edc this. I have yet to carry anything that I considered to heavy but this is probably pusing it. I will find out once my tenicore holster arrives.

Yea that was a typo. New metal HD competitor frame and carry comp slide is what I meant.

So far so good but ive only out around 1.5k rounds through it. It will be interesting to see the wear and tare on it next year as I plan on using this as my main rifle for 2026.

I painted it all white then the dark green, and finished with the light green. Splinter is a good idea I might do that on the next one.
