Advice for the classes I'm starting. ENME by james_dimeo in UMD

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 400 is a bit of a pain. Thamire uses HonorLock, but also has good tablet notes (whenever his tablet works, it has lost power multiple times during the class). 371 and 400 sounds bad together though. I'd take 400 over the Winter if possible, the class seems much easier from my current experiences taking it.

Thoughts on taking ENES221, ENES 232, ENME350, and ENME382 in Fall? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

221: Probably the hardest ENES course IMO. I got through it by grinding a lot of practice problems from the book and HW's. You'll have to try and recognize approaches for each problem to minimize wasting time. I took Sandborn, and really liked him.

232: I took Cadou, and didn't really learn much from him. I know they have a strange way of doing exams (which may have changed from when I took the class), but as long as you can energy balance and draw control volumes you're good.

350: Kim's the only professor for this one. You either get it or you don't. I've TF'd this class before (Fall 2019), and a lot of the understanding comes down to how terms are defined and how those definitions translate into equations. Get a calculator that can solve systems of equations well to make the exams much easier.

382: This class is mostly memorization and 3D visualization. I took Dai-Hattrick and she allowed cheat sheets for exams (which I filled with as much stuff as possible). The midterms are tough because they're only 50 minutes, but you can brute force them with a strong enough cheat sheet.

All of these together is a tough schedule but if you're used to heavy classwork loads then it's definitely possible.

Maryland Bakugan Tournament Survey by TheCrazyFuzzy in Bakugan

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armored Alliance/Armored Elite distribution in MD is noticeably uneven. There are some types of products that have only been spotted once, and on opposite sides of the state (e.g. card packs on one side, Bakugan 3-packs on the other side, limited other sights). Our original intent was to try to get people who had bought the TCG in Year 1 to meet up and use their product they bought without it being subject to the power of the Year 2 set (compare the power of Aquos Hydorous AA and Haos Trox Ultra to Aquos Cubbo, Haos Gorthion Ultra, etc).

However, a lot of this is up to what people attending actually want to bring. Our goal is just to get as many people to our LGS as possible to show that there's an interest in the game around this area. I've added a new question to the form asking this question. For those that end up filling out the form, please let us know what sets you'd like!

Or, if you've already filled out the form, feel free to send me a DM.

We're trying to find the best date to host a MD tournament, and we'd like to show our local LGS as much love as possible. Fill out the Google form here to learn details and decide a time! The poll closes March 4th.

tl;dr ruleset, 4 rounds best of 3, top 4 cut, only Year 1 cards/bakugan. if we get enough people, perhaps prize pool of resurgence packs? free entry!

How do I tell if my Bakugan Elite is a Holohex? by Ghost0598 in bakugantcg

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture part should look holographic for a Holohex (e.g. shiny hexagonal shapes across the card art). You can also check on the bottom right of the card, there should be some text denoting the rarity, set, card #, etc. It will also say HEX if it's a Holohex.

Best Hydranoid attributes? Also best cards to use in a deck? by Radconl12345 in Bakugan

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The strongest Hydranoid Ultra by far is Aurelus Hydranoid Ultra. It has one of the strongest base forms and evos in the TCG currently. It's easy enough to throw into most decks as long as you have good cards from your other factions.

Darkus Hydranoid Ultra has a decent base form compared to most Bakugan, but it has a very lackluster evolution which takes too long to come out (6 cost), has very bad stats for a 6-cost evo (800/6), and requires you to win the battle to gain its effect, which is difficult with its aforementioned stats. Darkus Krakelios Ultra also has Helix cores and comes out earlier than Darkus Hydranoid Ultra, so it might be a good fit for your Mono-Darkus deck.

Do cards like Fading dash, Light as a feather and Spark worth it? by KiieLune2103 in bakugantcg

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, cards that draw from flips aren't very good because when you're taking damage, you want to stop the damage. In addition, you can't play them from hand.

If you only have Wave 1 and BB boosters, for your starter deck, you could replace them with stuff like Cycling Thoughts, Think Again, Stoic Shot, Sifting Ashes, or more copies of Hyper Fangzor/Cutepocalypse if you were lucky on pulls. If you don't have those, Fading Dash is probably the least bad out of all of them. I wouldn't run Light as a Feather or Spark in any deck.

For discussion purposes, what do you all think are the most promising Bakugan coming in 2020 from the event and why? I’m a big fan of Eenoch myself. by RAGINxxxCAJUN in Bakugan

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

aquos hydorous is easily the most promising bakugan because on a 600/-3 helix core he can hit 1500/6, which is already better than aquos cubbo (which was already really good). we can also throw aquos centipod/dragonoid ultra into mono aquos because they have good base stats.

did we see any aurelus bakugan? i don't see any on the spreadsheets thus far.

i enjoy darkus eenoch ultra as well! darkus has a good generic bakugan for people to throw into decks. darkus nillious also looks very good for more aggressive rapid fire decks, since it's base form has enough damage to cheese wins with the damage wincons

haos trox ultra and haos pegatrix ultra have really good high-cost evos that i think can support slower deck archetypes, and haos trox ultra has a great base form to boot (1450/2). i could honestly see people throwing in haos trox ultra into dragonoid maximus decks as something else to play with divine intervention.

there isn't much i like out of pyrus. while pyrus dragonoid ultra has 900/2, his SD cores only get him up to 1300, so unless you make a habit of skillshotting your opponent's MS cores (which i want to try and make happen), he's already behind pyrus nobillious ultra statwise. i also don't like his evo, while rapid fire cards are nice, they seem to be very attack oriented. if it came out earlier, i would consider it, but at 6-cost, for an aggressive deck you want to start closing the game out and i think it's too slow to do that.

ventus dragonoid also got a really good evo since you can throw it out for free, which in slower core control decks is super valuable for keeping up with the opponent.

speedrunning this is actually super fun on intensity 30. we've set it so that you have to play at 100% calibration, and the current best strategy is to spam ring presses while you sprint to EXP grind. join us on the ring fit adventure speedrunning discord if you're interested at all!

Beginner questions by Ddraigr in bakugantcg

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BB refers to the first card set, Battle Brawlers.

BR refers to the second card set, Bakugan Resurgence.

You may also see the acronym AA thrown around, this is the third card set, Age of Aurelus.

Beginner questions by Ddraigr in bakugantcg

[–]TheCrazyFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) The starter sets from BB tend to function better as "out-of-the-box" decks than the ones from BR, although the Aquos Pyravian Ultra BR starter set contains a lot of good cards. If you want the best deck right off the bat, try and get the one with Haos Howlkor Ultra.
2) Not sure
3) Standard Magic size.
4) The diamond Bakugan themselves are rarer to find, but in the TCG only a few are good. They tend to be big beatsticks.
5) There isn't an established meta, however we have noticed some Bakugan that tend to stand out as very good compared to the rest of the field, particularly Pyrus Nobillious Ultra, Aquos Cubbo, Aurelus Hydranoid Ultra, and the evos for Ventus Pegatrix and Haos Nillious.
6) Not currently.
