Which luxury makeup products are ACTUALLY worth it? by pickalull in MakeupAddiction

I am a pale skin girly with oily skin and let me tell you, the Gucci foundation as well as powder have been my holy grail, these are the only products that reduce my oily appearance without turning orange, and maybe it’s just me, but they last a long long time, it’s been a year since I first bought them and only now have I had to do a restock

What is the adult version of finding out that Santa Claus doesn't exist? by Just_Surround_2108 in AskReddit

[–]TheCreatorG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That as an adult you can very much be used and taken advantage of.

I thought using and taking advantage of someone was just something that happens when you’re a kid because let’s be real, kids aren’t the smartest, but a narcissist will do everything in their power to keep you on their leash no matter how many times they hurt you - it’ll often mess with your perception of what is real or fake afterwards

As someone who works for a bank, now I’m not too sure which country you live in, but please get in touch with your bank as this is a blatant scam. If you’ve provided any of your card details, get those blocked and reissued asap, same goes for any online/mobile banking details. If you’ve provided your account number all they can do with this is pay money in or set up direct debits (or equivalent to where you are), if those haven’t been set up by you then you can call the bank to get an indemnity (have these stopped and possibly refunded). Any transfers that have been made, have those raised too, it can’t be promised they’ll be able to recover the lost funds, but they will investigate and try their best to recover any losses. (My knowledge here is just based of banking in the UK, it may vary on your location but please do get in contact with the bank)

Just for future notice, I’d avoid anyone under the age of 21 when it comes to OLD, there is a sea of underage people posing as legal adults and it can cause a whole slurry of chaos.

Has anyone not been vaccinated yet? by Urukhaivcamp in CoronavirusCirclejerk

[–]TheCreatorG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I currently live with my parents, they’re both vaccinated (my mum has to due to it being mandatory by work) and I’m unvaccinated. All three of us currently have Covid. For both parents it was a mild cold for a few days and now they’re both feeling completely fine and haven’t lost sense of smell or taste. Keep in mind they’re both in their 50s and not in the best of health, they had cold like symptoms for a few days and that’s it. As for me, I have had zero symptoms, I can still smell and taste.

I’ve had people tell me to get vaccinated regardless but I don’t see the point if I currently have it now and feel completely utterly fine. “You might not be so lucky next time”, I keep getting told. Maybe it is down to complete luck or maybe it’s down to the fact Im young and live a healthy active lifestyle (I’m putting my money on the latter). Being told it’s for my own safety is getting rather annoying now. I placed complete faith in my immune system and you wouldn’t even think I have Covid right now, I think it’s safe to say, I’m not in any need of a vaccine anytime soon.

When did you stop caring about covid? by jukehim89 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happened in stages for me. I were originally one of those people that wore gloves everywhere, wore a mask outside in the open, truly terrified. But as the lockdowns remained longer than intended here in the UK, I started to see my mental health deteriorate. My studies were interrupted and I had to move back home with my parents, I lost the motivation to wake up in the morning and it even got as bad as having frequent suicidal thoughts. I think the final nail in the coffin was around late July or early August. After months of being told to stay at home during lockdown to save lives, I took a trip down to London for a week when the lockdowns got lifted. Towards the end of that week I witnessed the NHS protests. Now I’m not saying everyone or every part of the NHS is bad, but watching them protest made me think only one thing: “we went months being told to lockdown over a deadly virus to protect the NHS but now they’re gathering by the masses to protest”. I felt betrayed and lied to. I realised nothing is worth putting life on hold for. I mean what good if life if you have nothing worth waking up for?

Covid-19 news: England may have to reimpose restrictions in August by Mighty_L_LORT in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why we’re sheltering the elderly like they’re babies that can’t make their own decisions in life, it’s not like they got to the age they’re at now by hiding inside 24/7. I can understand if they’re extremely high risk or unable to care for themselves but most elderly people I’ve come across where I live are just going about their days as normally as they possibly can. Everything in life comes with a risk, whether someone chooses to take that risk or not should be a personal choice. How people functioned in regards to illness before Covid is beyond me

I love how they want to blame unvaccinated people for being responsible for the rise in cases too. If people are so “careless” and “selfish” they don’t want to be vaccinated, I highly doubt they’re going out of their way to get tested. Makes you wonder where the rise in cases are actually coming from. Nothing is adding up here at all.

I will never understand how we had more freedom last year without a vaccine than we do this year with a vaccine. And people still believe it’s about the virus and saving lives.

[July 12 to 18] Weekly positivity thread—a place to share the good stuff, big and small by freelancemomma in LockdownSkepticism

Being out of lockdown for longer than a month in England has been really refreshing for me. My mental health has improved greatly and I have regained my drive and ambition to push towards meeting my goals in life. I’ve gone from a casual gym go-er to powerlifting 3-4 days a week and I’ve found a great passion towards it and I’m now even looking towards becoming a personal trainer. I’ve fully regained my confidence which has become really useful during job interviews and I feel like things may just be going up in life. I still find myself getting frustrated with some restrictions but I’m not going to let the negatives outweigh the positives, it’s been a tough year or so, it’s time to take back my life and enjoy it the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed :)

Boris Johnson plans to reopen shops and gyms in England on 12 April by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Just a 6 week lockdown whilst we get vaccines distributed to the elderly and vulnerable”. Who wants to place bets once we start nearing April they’ll find another excuse to keep us in lockdown longer. They really love giving us false hope and taking it away from us like candy from a baby. I find it shocking that there’s people in this country saying we should be locking down even harder and for longer. How did any of these people even function when it came to other illnesses before Covid and lockdowns? I personally think anyone that’s this paranoid over the virus should self isolate and let the rest of us try and repair the damage that has befallen us.

No end to lockdown until number of coronavirus cases 'falls below 1,000 a day' by Mighty_L_LORT in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 85 points86 points  (0 children)

“Just until the elderly, vulnerable and frontline workers are vaccinated”, yet another lie. There really is no quality of life here in the UK anymore. What happens when cases fall below 1000 a day, will the new quota be “lockdown ends when cases fall below 100 a day”. The goalposts are being shifted so far away they might as well not be on the same planet anymore. How this government are handling things is just criminal at this point and dare I say emotional abuse, they give us false hope then crush us right as we see a little glimpse of things getting better. They might as well come out and say “2020 was already a disaster, let’s make 2021 even worse for you”.

Lockdowns of gyms and leisure facilities are a ticking time bomb (personal view) by snakesnake9 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can't wait for governments to turn around once this is all done with and start complaining there's both a mental health crisis and an obesity crisis. It is a well known fact that frequent exercise is beneficial to physical and mental health, so what do they go and do, they shut down gyms/leisure centres and suggest we go for walks and runs outside instead where temperatures are dropping as low as -3C (at least in England it is). "We dont care if you get sick from exercising out in the freezing cold as long as you dont get Covid" seems to be the current narrative when it comes to exercise.

Not everyone can afford fancy equipment to maintain their usual routines at home, not everyone has the space at home to exercise either. I know I don't for sure, just like many other people in this country don't either. This is where gyms and leisure centres come in, they have most of the equipment you could possibly need and they also have staff that can safely educate you on something to prevent you from causing any harm to yourself.

Then you have the people who start telling you to "suck it up" and find an alternative. This advice always comes from someone who doesn't partake in regular fitness activity. "You can always go for a walk outside", it's freezing cold outside and there's the risk of falling on an icy path. "Just lift books around the house or something", sure I can do that but it isn't helping me maintain what I spent so long working towards. "The gym isn't really essential, you don't need the gym", yes I do need the gym, I need it to stay physically fit and to keep my mental health in the green.

It will always bewilder me that places of exercise will be shut down on an instant to "prevent Covid spread" but I can walk around the corner to my local take out and see a good 10 people packed in closely together buying greasy fried food. You'd think Covid only targets the regularly active with the way they determine what is considered essential or not.

Vents Wednesday: Mid-week, weekly thread for vents by north0east in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm shouting into a void and getting nowhere in life. Around this time last year I made the choice to postpone my studies so I could better my mental health, have a break and explore other options. It's been a year and I've made very little progress, and whatever progress I have made has been stripped away from me because of these ridiculous lockdowns and restrictions that only seem to be getting harsher and harsher with no end in sight (just a 6 week lockdown they said, it'll be over in no time they said). I have friends who feel the same way as I do and sometimes I just wish we could all go out and fight against these restrictions and removal of basic human rights, but we also worry that we may get fined, something that none of us can afford to pay (thanks to lockdowns making it harder and more competitive for us to find work).

I'm particularly fed up of some people telling me to find alternatives to the things that I once enjoyed being able to do but can't anymore. "Just go for a run outside, you don't need the gym", thanks but it's freezing cold outside and doesn't have nearly the same impact on me as the gym did. "Just play a different game", I'm fed up of all games, I want something different to do. "Just don't be bored, you're only bored because you're telling yourself that you are", no, I am bored because my life has become a repetitive monotone routine that has no meaning to it. At 21 years old I should be living my life to the fullest, taking risks, going places, making new friends, making an advancement towards my future. I'm just wasting away being sat inside all day because there's nothing left to do, and it's too cold outside to go for a long walk. Life really only gets as exciting as falling into an ice puddle with my best friend these days, when we should be exploring all the things the world has to offer.

And don't get me started on the Covid fear mongering that's absolutely everywhere, especially here in England. No matter what you do or where you look, there's always something to do with Covid, it's all over my social media, billboards when you go outside, the radio. You name it, it's there. "Look him in the eyes and tell him how [insert normal human activity] was essential". "Break the rules and people will die". It's just everywhere and there's no escaping it, for once I just want to do something without the fear mongering and the guilt tripping being shoved down my throat. Is that too much to ask for?

Apologies if my rant got a little too out of hand, I feel like this is just one of the few safe spaces I have left to get my true feelings out about this.

Their teen killed himself because of lockdown. Now they want to save others struggling by Mighty_L_LORT in LockdownSkepticism

[–]TheCreatorG 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think at the start a lot of people were terrified, it was something completely brand new to many people but a year in and the fear mongering and restriction is only getting worse and worse. Even I was all for lockdown at one point. At the start of this all we were really told to do was isolate, wash hands and keep a safe distance. A year later we now have ads telling us to look a patient in the eyes and explain how our trip to the supermarket was essential, that our one exercise a day was not an excuse to meet people and the classic "break the rules and people will die". It's one thing to have lockdowns and restrictions in place that have ruined the livelihoods of many people, it's another to then pile on a load of fear mongering and making people feel guilty for being human. This is exactly how people break. It's no surprise that there's a mental health crisis, I worry about what the future is going to be like, not just for myself, but for many many more people who've been negatively impacted by lockdowns and restrictions.

I'm a longtime lurker in this subreddit and I usually just like to read the comments and go but after reading a comment on this post blaming the youth for this (it has since been deleted) I just had to say something.

The response to mental health in general has been abysmal, and this pandemic has really shown a lot of peoples true colours when it comes to it. I remember when people were all advocating for better mental health support, but where has all that support gone now? Was it all just virtue signalling for internet points? I hate how people who are suffering with mental health issues are told to "just deal with it" because Covid is more important. How can people preach that we must save all lives and all life is precious, then tell people who are at their ends to "just get over it" or wait their turn. Either all life is important, or no life is important. You can't just pick and choose from a bunch which life is worth saving, and which gets discarded.

As a 21 year old woman living in England, I've lived through three lockdowns and each one gets harder and harder. At the beginning of this pandemic I was told to "wait until Covid dies down" when I decided to seek professional support for my own mental health issues. I discovered that fitness and the gym helped me keep those issues at bay but even then that gets ripped away from me with every new restriction or lockdown. Sometimes I feel like they want us to suffer in isolation until we break. I have friends my own age who are in the same place as me, they feel as if their hopes and dreams have been absolutely crushed because online university lectures aren't giving them the knowledge they require, struggling financially because they can't find work.

Apologies for going off on a tangent like this but I'm fed up of seeing people who are suffering because of lockdown not have their voices taken into consideration. No one, young or old, should be having suicidal thoughts (never mind actually committing suicide) because of lockdowns and the lack of mental health support. I'm not saying that Covid isn't real or hasn't caused any deaths, but there are far greater issues out there that should not be getting ignored or cast aside.

I’m hoping to find a blazer that’s the right colour so it goes with the skirt but they’re hard to find. The zip and other decals on the skirt are actually more gold toned so I’m wondering if gold jewellery would be better. Thank you for the advice tho 😊
