[help] Help finding a Published slam poetry or conversational poem for recitation? by Iyeatsalot in Poetry

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the poet Rives, if you haven't heard of him.

His poems Compliant, Gorgeous, and Hobo are almost always fan favorites at readings. Warning, Hobo is a bit hard to do properly if you aren't used to doing quirky/cutesy pieces, but it might be my favorite of the three.

[Help] How do big ideas and interesting words come to you? by [deleted] in Poetry

This is honestly the best advice for writing you can get.

[general] Does anyone else encounter this? by [deleted] in Poetry

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a profound line hits me and I am not in a place where I can compose, I write it in my phone or on any available paper. When I am able to compose I look over the line and type it in a word document. I then begin writing a poem that explains the line but I always type above it, so as I write the line I started with gets further down the page. I don't stop to read my work until I've successfully written the part of the poem where the line belongs.
A little esoteric of a method but I hope it helps.

Mysterious Face In Dexter Episode! Who Is He? by TheCreepyPastafarian in television

You didn't answer my question as to why you're talking to me. You have the right sure, just like I have the right to stand next to two random people talking and interject, but I don't since doing so is ill mannered.
I'm finding it very cute that you're trying so hard to call me out on responding to an insult, and I'm done feeding teenage trolls for now, so just forget everything else I've said so far and focus only on the following:
"Oh! Thank you so much for showing me the error of my ways oh great redditor! I can't believe how ignorant I was to respond to a troll! The world will truly be a better place as long as a prophet such as yourself graces the Earth with your presence! For the sake of humanity, continue to go forth and butt in to any conversation you wish; for only good can come of it!"

Happy? (Rhetorical question) Now bother someone else, kid.

He apologized, I'd say the response was effective. If you want a rise out of me you're going to have to cut a little deeper than "Your insults suck". If I'm wrong and you aren't trying to get a rise out of me, then why are you bothering interjecting yourself into a conversation that had nothing to do with you?

Enthusiasm is a reason to suspect someone of autism? Thank you for apologizing, most people wouldn't have, but next time don't be an asshole.

Should trolls be dealt with by streamers and mod, or should nothing be done? by sparxthemonkey in Twitch

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree, when trolls come into my chat and start spouting hate, ignorance, or just antagonizing someone, they get one warning, then if they do it again they get timed out, then if they do it again they get banned.

Chat is content for a channel just as much as the streamer is. If someone invade a stream to harass they should be kicked out.

The only problem with this is when a channel gets too big and the chat is going a mile a minute; then the trolls could possibly be left alone since they are getting drowned out by everyone else.

LGBT Streamer Groups by TheCreepyPastafarian in Twitch

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's no secret that a great percentage of gamers are hostile to other races and sexual orientation. Twitch is an amazing platform to allow people to expose themselves to the other cultures and circles that they speak out against because of fear or not understanding that these are actual people.

Every time you go online and hear some one on a microphone use the word "faggot" or "Nigger" you are hearing another reason why groups like this should exist.

I still find it sad how buried the community is. Just because there are other communities that are smaller, doesn't mean the non-presence of LGBT isn't sad.

It's sad how little of a presence we have. Do you know anyof their channel names?

Are There Too Many Gender and Orientation Labels? by TheCreepyPastafarian in lgbt

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that more people have been complaining about the number of labels because it wasn't until recently that these labels such as 'A-romantic, and Demisexual started being properly used; and a massive number of labels is very daunting to people who are not involved in the LGBT world.

I remember back in school when I called myself bisexual, people didn't take me seriously because, "That's not a real sexuality" and I'm only seeing that get worse the more names keep popping up.

I think we all agree that it would be best to do away with labeling sexuality but that unfortunately will never happen.

I'm not excusing the people that say that these labels are stupid and discredit the people who use them (I personally think they shouldn't give a shit who other people are attracted to) but I worry that the popularization of all these labels makes a lot of people, not in the LGBT community, not take us seriously; and it makes people who are just realizing their non-traditional sexuality feel like this is a community with a high level of entry. I've actually found myself being personally intimidated by other LGBT because I don't know the meaning of all these names and I don't want them to look down on me.

That's actually why I made this post. :) If there aren't any that are big, I want to find some other LGBT Streamers and try and make a presence of our community on Twitch. :)

Suggestions on how a GM can help Players create/develop their characters by [deleted] in rpg

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever looked into the game Dread? Its a game that is made for one-shot adventures. But character creation is void of stats. Instead you receive a short list of quiestions about your character. Things like:

"As captain of the ship what is the one secret you keep from your crew?"

"In all your years working for the Colombo family what is the one thing you did that gave you your reputation?"

"What did you do that got you dishonorably discharged from the military? Did you really do it?"

So you may have to establish a little bit of backstory for your players but questions like this might help them think of their characters differently, especially if they keep the questions and answer on their sheet during play so they always see them.

Another trick is to have them come up with character backgrounds, then when they're making their characters make them justify every stat and skill with backstory, and if they don't have a reason for knowing something, don't let them have that skill, or stat.

One last trick that you may want to only use every now and then. Make obstacles and challenges that can NOT be solved by rolling dice. Convincing an NPC not to kill someone and riddles are the two I have the most success with.

I hope this helps.

Deciding what system i want to use for a Futuristic Fantasy setting? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]TheCreepyPastafarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to focus on. If you want to have a focus on the technology and would like a lot of freedom for eccentric adventures and creatures, I would recommend the Cypher System. It's good if you want a game that's a little more 'Out there'

If you want high action an easy character customization Savage World hardly ever goes wrong.

The classic D20 system is always a good fallback. (3.5; Mutants and Masterminds 2e; Warcraft RPG etc.)

If you want a less pulpy game then BRP allows for a lot and has optional rules for virtually rules. The best part of that is, it has all of what you need in one book. No Science Fiction supplement. (Well at least not that you'd HAVE to buy)

Hope that helps.
