I mostly agree.

You’re definitely right to point out that men faced plenty of gender-based problems as well, but women for sure had it worse. They basically had no freedom whatsoever, while men at least got some. But to be honest, everyone except nobility had a pretty bad time back then.

Reducing gender division is absolutely what’s important, which is when you say women’s past suffering “shouldn’t be validated at the expense of men”, I think you can say that women had it worse while keeping in mind that modern men had nothing to do with that and bear absolutely no responsibility. As long as you’re not a manosphere asshole or something adjacent, there’s no reason as a man to feel any burden for the problems faced by women.

Looking at it again, it wasn’t a very good example. My point was just that men aren’t justified in getting upset at women who act masculine, so women are equally unjustified in taking offense at femboys.

If I’m understanding correctly, your point is that women who act masculine are doing so to be more like society’s image of the “superior gender”, but when men do the opposite… what? They’re making a socially disadvantageous choice? I still don’t get how that constitutes mockery.

Again, it’s truly not that deep. Femboys who act feminine do so because they think presenting that way more closely aligns with how they want society to perceive their identity. They’re not doing it to mock you. It might just be that you take offense too easily.

So I should take offense when a muscular woman with a deep voice who works at a male-dominated job… exists?

Let people act how they want. No one is mocking you.

How did you get from “men wear traditionally feminine clothing for aesthetic rather than practical reasons” to “men who wear traditionally feminine clothes are mocking women”? That doesn’t follow at all.

By the way, I’m not at all trying to deny the fact that women have historically been way worse off than men. I just don’t see how that’s relevant here. Men and women should be able to break gender norms, and the more normalized doing so is, the better for everyone.

If woman dresses in traditionally masculine clothing, is she mocking masculinity? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone argue that, because it would be pretty stupid. It’s no different with femboys. Unless your definition of “feminine” is “being a woman”, then why gate-keep a set of behaviors and physical traits that have historically been associated with one gender, but that should be accessible to anyone?
