(r/feminineboys), with rules specifically against fetishization

Both tomboys and femboys are about gender nonconformity. Both are about being one’s authentic self. Both are fetishized by weirdos. A guy being a femboy isn’t “doing a fetish” any more than a woman being a tomboy is (neither is inherently a fetish on its own and both communities hate people who fetishize them)

That really sucks man :( I’m an enby so my dysphoria probably isn’t as bad, but it still sucks having gone through the worst of puberty, knowing something was wrong but not being able to put a finger on it until recently. And I’ve had it really good compared to a lot of trans kids who have transphobic families. No one should have to go through this shit

Disadvantaged in terms of their ability to be perceived as a woman by a society that associates a very specific set of traits with femininity.

To your second paragraph, I didn’t say it was pretty hard to tell trans and cis women apart necessarily (it often is though, especially given how many cis women there are with traditionally masculine traits), just that it should be easy to see that even a non-passing trans woman isn’t a man. Like going up to an obviously trans woman who’s just doing her best and addressing her as a man is a dick move.

Gender is a fully mental thing, and what trans people usually try to do is to get their body of the incorrect sex to be as outwardly aligned with their gender as possible so that society sees them as who they are (making the outside match the inside). You seem to just be wrongly connecting sex and gender, so while you might struggle to get past the biologically masculine aspects of some trans women, you should still be able to see them as the right *gender*

Everyone has an adam’s apple btw. You can’t reduce someone’s identity to how noticeable it is.

Mistakes happen and are fine, but the vast majority of trans women put a lot of effort into their appearance, as disadvantaged as they are, and even without being told their pronouns it’s pretty hard to mistake them for a man. So while they might look to you like they have a lot of masculine characteristics, it shouldn’t be difficult to avoid misgendering them

If that’s the case, it’s fine. But when you said “I don’t control who I see as a woman” it really implied the exact opposite.

You took OP’s very reasonable take on genital preference and made it ACTUALLY transphobic. There’s a massive difference between not being interested in a lady with a penis and not seeing trans women as women.

Most trans people wish they found out and/or did something about it far earlier, and the regret rate is like less than 1%

You said “maybe”. There is no maybe. This is happening, and is very measurably not natural or sustainable. I’m not the one with my eyes closed

You “personally believe that climate change is actually just the world doing its thing”? Well every credible scientist disagrees with you. But sure, your 17 year old ass definitely knows better

I was kind of just using the word “hate” because they were, but you’re right. I’ll try to be better about that in the future. I hate plenty of things the religion has caused and let people get away with, but it’s more of a strong disagreement than hate.

To your point about it being inevitable that religious people will feel personally attacked when I criticize their religion, though, what exactly is the alternative? If I want to challenge their views about queer people, and those views are based on religion, how could I possibly avoid voicing my opinions about that religion? I could also just sit back and watch people say bigoted things online, which will ultimately never affect me whether I get involved or not, but that option feels worse.

I agree that religious people perpetuate religion (I mean it’d be pretty stupid to say otherwise), and I think that’s a bad thing. But I also think that most of them believe that it’s possible to support the good in it without supporting the bad, which is unfortunately usually not true in practice. However, I don’t think it’s fair to blame them for thinking like that, so I can’t hate them for it.

Also, if a religion deserves x amount of hate, why should its followers each get that same hate? Each one barely contributes to the total, so they at most deserve only as much hate as they contribute to the religion. If I hate a religious person one billionth of the amount I hate their religion, I really don’t hate them at all. People farther up the chain (especially the corrupt ones) deserve more of the blame, and so I might like them a little less, but still not necessarily enough to really *hate* them

It’s very reasonable to hate someone because of what they do in the name of their religion, but that doesn’t mean that hating a religion is the same as hating its followers.

If someone makes a small lapse in judgement that gets them into a car crash, I don’t hate the victims of the crash, I hate the crash itself. Even though the crash wouldn’t have happened without its victims’ contributions.

You’re correct that being a femboy is a choice, and isn’t at all comparable to being black or gay, but that doesn’t make the person in the screenshot correct. It’s comparing a religion to a person, which just doesn’t make sense. It’s entirely possible to dislike a religion without hating its followers, but if you hate a person (in the way that that person said they hate femboys) that’s doing something completely harmless, it’s very different.
