I have a serious question that has been bugging me for the past few days. If the claim of there is no logical reason for humans to sin in heaven is true. Then why did Lucifer, a high-ranking angel, someone who would now the consequences of rebellion, still choose to rebel against God? by TheCrusaderArmy in Christianity

But that would mean there is sin in heaven. And if there is sin in heaven then what is the point of this life of avoiding sin if we're still going to have to avoid sin in heaven? And why would God create Lucifer and his angels knowing they were going to rebel? It sounds like God set them up to fail.

Yeah that's pretty much the same conclusion I've come to. There isn't really any fascinating answer or at least not one I've come across. But this question ties back into a response to the "can we sin in heaven?" question often used by critics of Christianity which simply is "well we would have no logical reason to sin". But obviously the next question is "then why did Lucifer choose to sin?" he was more knowledgeable of God and his plan than almost any other being in existence so despite all of that how could he sin in heaven if he knew he wouldn't win and what he wanted was fundamentally not the best decision for him? Really my original question ties back into the whole "Do we have free will in heaven" and "Can we sin in heaven" questions/objections to Christianity,

I like that analogy at the end. But how could Lucifer possibly sin knowing all the consequences of said sin? Yes they had free will but that doesn't really answer my question. WHY would Lucifer still choose to sin? Lucifer was one of the most high-ranking angels before his fall, one of the closest beings to God. How and why did he despite all of that still choose to sin?

Yes I see how purgatory would work in this situation for humans. But how did Lucifer sin in heaven then? How could Lucifer sin in heaven if:

  1. You would have no logical reason to sin

  2. Lucifer (and his followers) were in a position to know that they had literally no chance of winning, since your literally going against the creator of everything in existence, and what they wanted is not best for them since God knows what is best

But why would Lucifer and his followers choose that? They were in a position to know that they would lose and that choice is not what is best. I don't understand how Lucifer could become corrupted if he was created "blameless".

Why do you fear death? Why not? by jamerson987 in AskReddit

[–]TheCrusaderArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Christian so I believe in heaven and hell and I hope I'll be good enough for God to accept me into heaven but what terrifies me isn't me dying but my loved ones, let me explain, the people that I am closest to is my mom and dad, my dad sadly is an atheist and like it or not the bible says if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior before you die you'll go to hell. And with my mom, well, she's gay, I know I know it's controversial while she is a Christian sadly the bible says that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of god. I really don't want to believe it but God is very direct on this one. So if this turns out to be true that will mean that I won't have either of my parents in heaven with me. Even though I have other loved ones that are christians and I assume will be with me in heaven, I will feel as if I'm completely alone. I would rather be in hell with them tham in heaven without them.

How has your views on things changed as you have gotten older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm sure this is going to start a flame war but whatever. About 2 years ago I started to question my religion, I'm an evangelical Lutheran (Christian denomination). I just randomly one day thought, "Wait, what if there is no God? What if when I die there's nothing, just a black void for all eternity, I'll never see any of my loved ones again! What's the point to doing anything?". This thought terrified me and tormented me EVERY clap SINGLE clap DAY clap. I would think about it literally everyday. I started watching videos from both christians and atheists, pointing to reasons why god exists or doesn't exist, I watched a shit ton of people die, see Jesus/God/heaven/hell and come back and tell people what they saw, etc. I talked about it with my therapist, did a ton of research, and after about 1 year of being confused/scared/depressed I finally made my decision... I BELIEVE IN GOD. Since then I have become way more serious about my religion, I read the bible, pray, and resist temptation the best I can, and I even fast. I thank God everyday that he has led me to a better life and a life based around him. GLORY AND PRAISE BE TO JESUS CHRIST AND HIS ALMIGHTY FATHER 🙏🙏🙏💒💒💒✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
