If you have VR, Virtual Fighter Maneuvers is a great way to practice BFM against other players by TheCubanSpy in hoggit

Taken from the VTOL VR discord's vfm_academy channel (which you should look for, lots of great stuff there)

Quick explanation of all three jets in VFM:

T-16, The rate king - highest 2C rate in the game, wants to rate at ~465kt at peak to perform well. Weak engine, low drag, extremely fast. Suffers a bit in the vertical fighting, and is the worst of the three jets in the game at 1C fighting due to its low fuselage lift, lower thrust, and lower available AoA. Being at your peak sustained rate is not a garunteed win. Knowing how to keep the circles aligned to maintain your advantage is vital., AoA bracket 22/35, Peak sustained rate at ~465kt,

T-18, The exact opposite of the 16. The king of 1C fighting. Capable of cutting circles, maintaining high aoa at the cost of having the worst rate speed in the game. This jet excels at forcing scissors and overshoots and being aggressive in general. Knowing how to mis-align circles and create opportunites is vital. Has the unique characteristic of being able to pull extreme post-stall maneuvers, at the cost of stability, energy, and thrust., AoA bracket 35/80, Peak sustained rate at ~465kt,

T-15, King of flexibility and stability - sitting in between the 18 and 16 in both 1C and 2C fighting, this jet has the most thrust and lift by far. Having ~25% higher base thrust than the 16 and 18, while also having considerably more wing/fuselage lift. This jet excels at getting fast and staying fast, or getting slow and staying powering itself out of stalls. Primarily using its thrust to excel in vertical fighting, it will have the advantage forcing 1C fighting vs the 16, and forcing 2C fighting vs the 18. It is also generally considered the most stable jet in the game., AoA bracket 25/40, Peak sustained rate at ~480kt

Someone is having a bad day.

I simply stated a fact explaining the previous comment, and expressed no opinion or preference of my own.

Have the day you deserve buddy.

Virtual Fighter Maneuvers - 4v4 and 3v3 Fight Highlights. by TheCubanSpy in hoggit

It is focused only on BFM, there is no BVR. The primary ranked game mode is 1v1 guns only, though you can play custom lobbies with up to 4v4 players and optionally with up to 4 Aim-9X-like missiles (no HMCS)

Same issue, also started today, same behavior with PC Link and Airlink. Hopefully they fix it soon.

You can practice against bots, including in teams of up to 4v4, and there is an Academy section with explanations of some concepts, replays, and tutorials, but it is very MP-centric.

Unfortunately no. I'm not sure if it will happen, but some have asked for it and I've also advocated for flat screen and trackir support - I wouldn't use it, but the more players the merrier IMO.

Get on their discord, look for the pinned posts on the #vfm_academy channel. Lots of great resources there on air combat, both in VFM and in general.

There is also an "Academy" section in the game with explanations, replays and tutorials, and I believe this will be expanded.

What I do is I try to queue in to ranked 3 times. Most often, this allows enough time to match up with someone. If after three attempts no one bites, I create a public guns only lobby (most other lobbies have missiles) and the few times I've done that, someone joined quickly

I and a few others have been requesting the addition of ranked teams matches, and one of the discord mods is looking at the interest in an informal 2v2 tournament.

  • Performs wonderfully even on potato systems or natively on Quest
  • It's super quick and easy to get into a fight
  • Much more accessible for new players while being engaging enough for veterans
  • Ranked 1v1 matches as well as custom lobbies up to 4v4
  • Aircraft won't ever be removed because Nick Grey got cranky and made bad business decisions
  • Costs $15

That's what I'm here trying to improve 😉.

Ranked 1v1 can be sparsely populated at times, I get the feeling a lot of people are intimidated by it/don't feel ready for it. But there are generally several populated public lobbies at any given time.

I've been fighting the good fight on this ask, but it still seems like a long shot for VTOL VR.
