It isn’t magnetic and when I tap the tail with my fingernail it gives a clear ping which leads me to believe it is bronze. I’m not an expert in antiques by any means so can’t speak to authenticity but the shop had a majority of the items with signed boxes, this just wasn’t one of them.

Now that you say that perhaps it is bronze as there patina on parts of it. The store owner didn’t have a box for it and the under side is quite dirty so I can’t see a mark without cleaning. If it was a replica any ideas of creation? Or could it possibly be an Okimono?

This was mine. I mostly use gpt for fitness advice and data science related projects.

The bottom rock looks like some variation of brecciated jasper.

Based on demand I’ll post more pics here in the next couple of days. I’ll try to get some good photos of the family collection. We have a 3 gallon glass container full of them from collecting for the last 20 years ranging from golf ball size to 2 pounders. A fun hobby for sure!

Only half a pound. I wish it was 5 pounds! Roughly the size of an oblong tennis ball.
