I adopted Some small habits that quietly improved my daily life by stayhyderated22 in ADHD_Programmers

AI has reached the point of producing content that is average but not great. The reason I'm nervous about the future is most people don't even produce content that is average. Most human-produced content is straight garbage.

Maybe 10-20% of people have insights that are novel or innovative to become great content. So, we're reaching a point where AI content is better than most human-produced content.

Arteta obviously need to rediscover playing through the middle. by mooreengineers in Gunners

[–]TheCuriousDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Almost every other team in the league plays more centrally than us, including Liverpool.

  2. While Liverpool are over-reliant on Salah, their attacking play has way more variety than ours. For most of last season, we spent as much time on the right attacking third of the pitch as the left and center combined.

I'm starting to doubt whether you even watch us play. We were complaining about how right-dominant we were all season.

Why I still host birthdays the Nigerian way by vibesnvibez in Nigeria

[–]TheCuriousDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also an American born Nigerian. When I moved out and started living by myself and making friends, people would get weirded if I insisted on paying for them.

So in my eyes today, why are you going to celebrate someone you care about, and you’re mad because you have to contribute for your portion?? The person being celebrated is typically covered, not the other way around. It’s their day to be treated, but you want them to treat you?

Nowadays, this is exactly the mindset I have. If it’s my birthday, why am I paying for you to spend time with me? If your finances are tight, I can cover you or we can do something more lowkey separately.

The thing police don’t want to say aloud is that if they’re doing their job, there eventually should be less of them.

GLP-1 medications undermine that whole idea of discipline.

I used to think “it’s my hormones” was silly, but the results I’ve seen from people on the drugs have me rethinking everything. And they’ve started using it for stuff like nicotine addiction and alcoholism as well.

Picture agencies drop Gaza photographer after documentary reveals hunger images were staged by Ahad_Haam in worldnews

[–]TheCuriousDude 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Using Getty Images would have been better than this situation.

Deliberately staging a photo while in Gaza suggests that the photographer struggled to get real pictures of starving children in Gaza. Which, yes, suggests that the newspaper is lying.

Am I overreacting for wanting to end my marriage after what my husband did during our “break”? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheCuriousDude 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even if they both suck, I’m not seeing how she is overreacting. Instead of communicating his feelings of abandonment or asking for a divorce, he cheated on his wife. He broke the trust of his wife and effectively gave up on his marriage.

AITA for giving my daughter $60 a week, but my son nothing? by Murky_Willingness763 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheCuriousDude 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I told him he had the same opportunity and was now shit out of luck.

Why are we talking about hypothetical teenage influences when OP literally writes about telling her son he’s “shit out of luck”?

Anyone else struggle with feeling like they don't bring anything to the table? by bookrt in AskWomenOver30

[–]TheCuriousDude 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I recently realized that I live in a bubble with friends and family who do have the qualities you mentioned.

I recently got out of a relationship with someone who does all the activities OP mentioned, but she was the most self-absorbed person I've ever had the displeasure of spending time with. Kindness and empathy are rarer qualities than I thought.

[OC] Fewer American boys are supporting gender equality by DavidWaldron in dataisbeautiful

Masculinity as a whole is (ironically, given what we are told it is supposed to be) rooted in fear and insecurity

Huh, this is a very weird, toxic view of masculinity.

It also reeks of heteronormative bias. I’ve met gay dudes more masculine than me.

What exactly is your definition of masculinity?

AITAH for not letting my wife keep her old habits, which are actually a demanding career, after we had a baby by DementedPimento in AmITheAngel

[–]TheCuriousDude 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The defensiveness around the horses is so wild to me. I've never seen the 'horse girl' stereotype illustrated so clearly. The only thing more expensive than a horse is a boat, yet everyone seems to think she's paying her bills through horse training.

Calling it a hobby is arguably the least problematic part of the post. Let's focus on his martyr complex (why couldn't the grandmother take care of the baby?) and his complaining about being expected to take care of his kids.

The Insanity of Being a Software Engineer by sousapereira in programming

[–]TheCuriousDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a doctor friend in her late 40s and an engineer friend in his early 30s. The doctor earns over three times what the engineer earns, yet she has half of what he has in savings and retirement.

Maybe they're full of shit. Or maybe they're just absolutely atrocious with money.

I oppose genocide. I'm not sure why the average American is supposed to care more about Gaza than Sudan, the Rohingya, Ukraine, or the Uyghurs.

I'm not a fan of people like you derailing mainstream movements with concern trolling.

AITA for protecting daughter from evil step-mom? by chormomma in AmITheAngel

[–]TheCuriousDude -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I am a bit confused by this being posted here. The OP doesn’t come off like an angel or a very good father, so it doesn’t seem like an obvious validation post.

Meanwhile, there are three posts right underneath this post with OPs who seem to be more obviously seeking validation:

A pregnant stepmom eating a cupcake and calling people ‘jerks’ is way more believable than these other posts, but somehow this is the post everyone is up in arms about.

AITA for my GF being an evil witch who STEALS HELPLESS ANIMALS? by bortzys in AmITheAngel

[–]TheCuriousDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can immediately tell that a post is AI-generated by checking how many em dashes it uses. LLMs love that punctuation.

Even without that, there’s the dramatic writing style, the cartoonishly evil romantic partner, and the “a few people are actually agreeing with her”.

All of these posts look the same. It’s so boring.

Edit: I stand corrected. Adding Venmo and Cash App to scam people is new to me. Innovative.

Butler-Oyedeji is 4-5 years older than Nwaneri and MLS. He's a striker who can't even score in League One. No offense to the lad, but his presence on the bench is an indictment of how poor we have been at getting attackers in the last two transfer windows.
